Dear friends,

During the past month, the UN and Darfuri rebel groups have made major commitments towards bringing security and peace to Darfur. Our leaders are finally listening -- but for more than two million displaced and vulnerable Darfuris the crisis drags on. Darfuris will see results when we make sure these commitments are kept. Record a video message now and on September 16th -- the fourth global day for Darfur -- as 192 world leaders gather in New York for the UN General Assembly we’ll screen our messages for them in front of UN headquarters.

The UN Security Council unanimously approved a hybrid UN--African Union peacekeeping force and eight rebel groups agreed on a platform for peace talks with the government of Sudan. These are great signs that all of our activism is making a difference, but sustained pressure is necessary to ensure that these commitments are kept. The bad news is that the Sudanese Justice Minister immediately called the hybrid peacekeeping force “stillborn.” Meanwhile, the crisis has followed Darfuri refugees into Chad and now into the Central African Republic.

So, DarfurGenocide.org is taking our activism to a new level through a compelling partner initiative: 24 Hours for Darfur. We're helping collect 24 hours of personal video appeals demanding security and a lasting peace in Darfur, sending them to political representatives, and screening them on September 16th -- the fourth global day for Darfur -- in front of UN headquarters. In less than five minutes you can record a video message, upload it to our site, post it on your blog, embed it in your Facebook page, and send it to all your family and friends!

Our voices, along with so many fighting for peace in Darfur, helped to embolden British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy to back the hybrid force and peace talks. It's time for a burst of sustained pressure to ensure that the hybrid force is deployed and peace talks begin. Our voices will continue to be heard only if we continue to speak out.

24 Hours for Darfur already has video testimonies from Darfuris plus Samantha Power, Nicholas Kristof, John Edwards, Mia Farrow and over seven hours of footage from people like you from all over the world. Every moment of every day, Darfuris subsist in camps struggling against disease, malnutrition and profound insecurity. And every moment is also an opportunity for someone, somewhere in the world, to speak out.

If you want some help in making an informed appeal or if do not have the technology to make a video but want to learn more, the project includes a comprehensive video library of educational material, including one by DarfurGenocide.org co--founder Tom Perriello.

We hope that you check out 24 Hours for Darfur, record your personal message, forward this to a friend and help play a role in bringing sustained security and a fair and comprehensive peace agreement to the people of Darfur.

With hope,
Ben, Ricken, Milena, Tom and the rest of the DarfurGenocide.org team

Please we have our own Darfur in the Niger-Delta; PH and Bayelsa in particular.

The Niger Delta wahala is a very small problem that can be solved over a plate of pepper soup and Ogogoro hot drink.

The greedy and wicked employers and unruly employees are fighting over illegal bunkering.
The generals are using their soldiers to secure their control over illegal bunkering. And the political shareholders don't want to lose their shares.

Every state should control their resources like Cocoa in the Western region, Palm oil in the Eastern region and Groundnut with Cotton in the Northern region.

Do you know that Malaysia makes more money from palm oil than what Nigeria is making from crude oil?

The Darfur Crisis will affect Northern Nigeria if we fail to help the UN/AU to end the conflict. It is already affecting Chad and Niger.
