omonnakoda:You see, how you are an apology of a human being? What warrants the insults? Is it that you are just irredeemably capable of taking in knowledge? You are so shallow and pitiable for you to dismiss historical and verifiable facts as imagination. You are obviously a victim of the corrupt leaders in Nigeria who have ensured you are perpetually enslaved mentally by taking history away from you in school. I have pointed out that incomparable wealth is in lagos because the enabling factors have been put in place by different factors. Wealth and fame have by providence and nature been forced on lagos. |

The decision to move the capital to Abuja was taken in 1975 and the Capital was moved in 1991 Oil boom did not exist in the 60s the price of oil in 1972 was $3 In 1973 there was the Yom Kippur war that let to increased in oil prices It did not last 10 years before the crash that brough in Buhari and austerity measures So what period exactly is it that oil money built Lagos and at the same time built Abuja? The FG built the National Stadium, THeatre , Federal Secretariat , Festac. Those things they abandoned to decay once they went to Abuja Those things are not what makes Lagos The fundamental thing is the port that was built by the British and the fact that the place is safe and secure compared to the Niger Delta or elsewhere. No one put the port there. The people of Lagos should thank their ancestors for settling there and yes it is a legacy of colonial Nigeria but it is a Cash cow for the country. It belongs now to the FG not the State The Lagos -Ibadan expressway was built during the oil boom era and it was tolled immediately. It was the only tolled road in the country All the while Lagos was generating wealth from the port for the country , it has been doing so since 1898 and continues to do so today. Unlike Abuja Lagos is paying its bills and paying the bills of others https://www.nairaland.com/4144976/lagos-1898before-nigeria-not-oil |
