Sunday Oliseh, a former coach for Nigeria, has stated that Nigeria must qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He believes that if the Super Eagles fail the World Cup qualification, it will be a sign of the end for football in the country.

Sunday Oliseh revealed that Nigeria's football would be dead if it does not qualify for the World Cup.

He said that the Super Eagles were already behind many countries because they failed to qualify for Qatar 2022.

Oliseh stated that football is a religion here in Nigeria, but a country without a strong league cannot have a great national team.

The former Nigerian international was a member of the FIFA Study Group for the 2022 World Cup. He represented Nigeria twice at the World Cup.

Nigeria was eliminated on qualification to the World Cup in Qatar following a loss to West African rivals Ghana.

People killing football in Nigeria are still at the glass house. Until people start throwing stones at the house that is when they will loosen their grip on Nigerian football.
