The Taliban government in Afghanistan has outlawed women from attending universities nationwide, drawing outrage from the US and the UN for yet another violation of human rights.

The Taliban increased restrictions on all aspects of women’s lives despite promising a softer rule when they gained control last year and disregarded international protests.

In a letter sent to all public and private universities, Minister of Higher Education Neda Mohammad Nadeem instructed them to “immediately follow the above directive of stopping the education of females till further notice.”
