advanceDNA:I once stayed in Edinburgh. While walking on the street to my house, some kids between 7 to 9 just fetched some dirty, muddy water and poured it on the wind shield if a car parked by a woman on the roadside. I turned and looked at them and the all ran away laughing. I wondered, what kind of upbringing is this again? The children in oyinboland are extremely ill behaved. 4 Likes 1 Share |

tony9k: You are right, Luton has some pretty shitty schools. As someone who has been an insider, I am largely in agreement with what you have written here. Still, I think anyone contemplating a teaching career in the UK needs to come prepared. I have counselled not a few broken souls whose mental health was shot, after a stint in the profession, during my time. A 14-year-old who stabbed a teacher in a racially-motivated attack and then bragged about it on Facebook has been given an 11-year sentence. Katie Razzall has this exclusive interview with the teacher, Vincent Uzomah, who says he has forgiven his attacker. 1 Like 1 Share

sukkot: U guys are exaggerating things. Yes there's a big difference btw teaching in naija and UK, and the challenge can be daunting but not all these lies spewed here. Any student that throws chair in class will be suspended or separated from the main class. Who wants to risk lawsuit regarding injury. No student will call a teacher monkey or whatever...that's blatant racist. The school could get into trouble esp in this era of wokeness. For new immigrant teachers, the accent will be the biggest headache. From subtle mockery to some telling u to repeat words so they can laugh. Some parents will lodge complaints in school because their children are saying they can't hear u. Another issue will be respect as per African culture- that's non existent here. Respect is earned not given. Some kids are outrightly disrespectful and will bring the attitude to class- that's how they behave to every adults and not just u. Your challenge will be how to prevent them from disrupting the class because that's exactly what they intend to do. You have to learn how to control children without intimidation, fear or bullying. Its not easy but also not impossible. Contrary to expectation, higher classes are easier to control, they are more matured and focused. The students have their GCE, A level, relationships etc to think about, rather than one awkward immigrant teacher with a foreign accent. U will simply fit into their stereotypical mindset of 3rd worlders, they won't bother u much if u respect yourself. The junior ones could be a handful but just know that u are not allowed to touch or grab children aggressively on this country, it's a big NO. FYI My wife once worked as a supply teacher, my neighbour is a teacher and my aunt worked as a teacher b4 setting up a nursery- she even said things are much better for foreign teachers nowadays compared to 10 yrs ago when she started. 2 Likes |

ecolime: Net income was £1,876. Property was £155,500. 5% of that was about £7,750 which was down payment for the property. An NHS Band 5 Nurse is currently at £27,655 per annum. And you calling them "poor". You are just here spreading false information and missing representation of facts. £28,000 outside London, and South of England is a decent income. And there is no way a Government Teacher in Nigeria comes close to living a better life than a £28,000 income earner. You can continue spreading your false information, but the wise people will do research for themselves. 6 Likes |

I don’t think Nigerian kids are that much better behaved than oyinbos, even with all the free rein to discipline as you want in Nigeria, we still have issues of cultism, rudeness, delinquency, spoiled children, drugs etc. 2 Likes |

IyaTola: Several alarm bells ringing here. Firstly Luton is a majority Asian town, you'll be hard pressed to find any white kids let alone any who risk being racist in such a town. Secondly, let alone a white kid? So this 'person' went into a UK teaching job with such racial prejudices? I just don't believe it. Thirdly, his first action on his first day was to the head teachers office? Are you for real? No wonder the school lost confidence in him. Add lastly, 2003 How are we to take this seriously when there is a 20 year old anecdote? Any idea how much countries change over such a time? |

SmartyPants: A lot on here are un-intelligent. Sorry to say. People give you information. Instead of them to drill down and logically discuss things or analyse it and be prepared. They see enemies everywhere. Probably conditioned by their various religious houses to see things from that perspective. A lot of teachers are burned out and leaving the classrooms because the "woke" society has taken control of classrooms from their hands and handed it over to the kids. There was a story of a 13 year old kid who got a teacher suspended because she won't call her by her multiple pronouns which was always changing everyweek. Today she identifies as a boy , next week she is non binary , next month she is a girl and wants the teacher to follow such absurdities and address by such when it "changes". I have a class to teach not conform to your whims and caprices. You would leave the classroom also when kids have no consequences in a school environment nowadays. Parents bringing their uncultured kids to school and expecting teachers to drill commonsense into them without the kids bearing the consequences of such disobedience. Just last week 6 teneegers as young as 13 knived and murdered a man in Toronto at midnight. Like what the hell are 13 year old girls doing on the street at 12am . Guess they wanted booze from the man and he was trying to prevent them. That's a small sample of kids and should not be reflective of the whole society but nah, you take a walk to parks and schools. The amount of graffiti, destruction of public property, hooliganism i have seen. Not seen 1/100 of it amongst young people even in the deepest ghettos of Ajegunle. 7 Likes 1 Share |
