The father didn't handle the conversation well. He can't have it both ways. He talked to the kid as if he was an adult and the kid replied as an angry grown up man (I'm assuming he's a teen). This idea of upsetting our children and then calling them disrespectful when they get pissed is just ridiculous. Heck... the child was even playing the adult role by trying to explain to him him his issues with thier mum shouldn't affect thier relationship, but the pop was behaving the the teenager. So he shouldn't complain when he's addressed as one.

From what the father said, their mom isn't a peaceful person but violent and she is responsible for this show of shame! Thinking anyone gives a fvxk about her and her kids or her kids daddy. Nobody fvxking care woman! If you can't create a peaceful home, don't disturb us with your family issues. We all have ours.
What does that hve to do with getting his children some gift? So because the mum is not peaceful, he should abandon his responsibility as aa father? You are so bittered that you looked for a way to bring his wife fault, if your mother is bitter and violent,it doesn't mean this person in this conversation is like your mum. Stop attaching your family stories to what you read online
Who marry all these bitter nairaland men?

both are clearly irresponsible parents....in equal measure!!! i would not want to have a father or a mother like that or for my daughter to marry a child from that home.

He ironed his dad out quite well, whatever beef the man got with his baby mama has got nothing to do with his kids, in fact he shouldn't have mentioned her in his conversation with his son.

More reason why it's best to raise my kids alone without involving their deadbeat father if that ever happens, I no get time to shalaye.
Just don't teach them to hate, they would turn out great eventually.

You guys did not understand the conversation.

The kid was the one that mentioned their Mum first that she'd bring them over to get the gifts.

The man then replied that he'll bring the gifts himself when he's free. He obviously does not want to see the woman because according to him, she stressed him when he contacted her to get their sizes for the gifts.

The woman is going to end up poisoning the minds of the children against the father. It's happening already.

From the way and manner the boy responded to the dad it shows the mum is doing just that

Maybe i am wrong, because i do not fully understand what went on, but from my experience as a kid, i notice parents may be unable to handle their responsibility, and it helps to calm them down. when they are calm they are able to perhaps act better.
Contrary to what many of us like to conveniently believe, children aren't stupid nor are they imbeciles. Many a times, they already know the answer. They just need you to tell it to them. So when you feed them lies and make up silly excuses, you hurt them. undecided

Dont blame the 13 year old boy.
He doesn't understand life yet, neither does he understand how manipulative mothers/women can be.

Once he gets older, he'll understand the true story
He might even do worse than his dad in the future.
The dad is a fool too. He uses profanity discussing with his son. Poo role model.

I can't imagine the lady ever saying anything good about their dad to those kids.
I can imagine the boy ignoring their dad's call normally. Otherwise, a boy of 13 is big enough to tell his dad his shoe/clothe size.
A lady applauding a boy's rude behaviour can't be a very decent mum either. And even proud to share it with the whole world.

This is the kind of woman who denies a man access to his kids and later claim dad is deadbeat. A friend is going through this at the moment. She would want all the money and goodies from the man but won't adhere to arrangements agreed on for access to kids.

Women need to do better when it comes to choice of husband.

They are always complaining a man is deadbeat but they have no idea how it hurts the kids.

You are right, if you can remember yourself as a kid, then you know you were very smart too already.
Except children are also very forgiving and remember the good qualities of their parents, so the mother could be reinforcing some attitudes, may be unconsciously though. Or The child is exposed to their business and already understands who is always dishonest.

Children absorb a lot of knowledge, and spy on their parents a lot, so they can tell after a while.

Stop using the mothers in this, and learn that when dealing with kids they have brains like yours able to remember everything done to them, every lie told them just like you do. undecided

Most of those women are even worse than the men they choose. Forget their manipulative victimhood.

If not, what happened to all the good guys she must have turned down to accept this one?
Perhaps this guy told the best lies, showed off or bragged the most and she fell for it. grin cheesy

Mother and father are wrong. Both teaching their kids bad things. Where parenting is supposed to be the easiest skill. Na wa. Even if I had a deadbeat husband, I'd rather die than let my kids know their father is deadbeat.

ExAngel007:
A boy's conversation with his father about his Christmas gift has been shared online by the boy's mother and this has started a debate.

In screenshots of their chat, the boy asked his father if he got him and his siblings anything for Christmas and the father said he did.

The boy then asked his father how they can get the gift but the father said they will get it when he is "free" because their mother did "too much" and she made him "mad".

The boy hit back and asked his father why his mother making him mad should have anything to do with his kids.

The boy also told his father that it's fine if he didn't get them anything for Christmas but insisted his father shouldn't blame it on his mother.

The father then called the son and asked him to pick the call but he refused and replied to his father, "I'll call you when I'm free."

Sharing the screenshot, the boy's mother wrote: "And my son handled their deadbeat daddy very well! He think he can tell my 13 year old anything! He outspoken, not disrespectful."

I cannot leave my child for any woman, I took care of my son by the grace of God and today am enjoying him. Though I lost everything to feed him because I couldn't go for any meeting nor any job, but things are getting better!!!!

How do men develop the heart to leave their child with a lady? I can't. And I won't. And will never leave my child for a lady that left me because I went broke and began calling me deadbeat. Pure nonsense! REDPILLARZONE cool

The father was not a role model no two ways about that but in a normal circumstances..
No 13yr old child of mine will tell me that he will return my call when he is free...If u see nothing wrong with it, that is perfect, but I do..and I frown at any kind of disrespect.. embarassed
The truth is that you can’t get respect from a child whose Mum you disrespect

Can't you all see the mom was trying to be MANIPULATIVE? Why did she not respond to the guy when he was asking for the sizes? She only wanted the children to think the man is a "deadbeat".

The mother is bitter and transferring her bitterness to the children by poisoning their minds. The way the man responded was also bad.

For me its more of empathy, i could felt the pain or emotions of my parents, and so i try to understand them by watching them more and trying not to upset them. I just wanted to know why they acted they way they did sometimes, sometimes i will try to forget totally, like amnesia. Children escape through playing, they begin to understand the world better, as times goes on, sometimes resentment may build up.

I also knew when they lied, and when they did wrong, but i mostly kept it to myself and easily let it fly, after all i depend on them at such a young age.

Overall our parents did their best and they are still wonderful everyday. cheesy cheesy

Children are children, they are still growing, the mother should teach her son better, and help him understand his world in a healthy knowing.

white women and their typical bitchily lifestyle, she has succeeded in turning the kids against their father not minding the father's side of the story. if you are not ready to submit to a man there is no point in trying to get pregnant for him. if the man had wills he would take away the kids from the mother and prevent them from seeing her so you can narrate the other side of the story and see the need for early family planning, the father could be giving more attention than the woman will ever do. so in summary if you are not ready to be submissive to a guy don't try to be manipulative by getting pregnant for him.

Assuming that in the course of their conversation the father asked him to call him someday and he said that, I would have said he was being sarcastic...
His father putting a call through to him and him, ignoring the calls and makes such remarks changed the narrative in my opinion

You forget they were actively in conversation by text. I bet he answered his very next call or called him back, having had his sarcastic zing back at him

I didn't read the part that says his mum was disrespected... He said that his mum made him mad..

Even @ that, since he is leaving with her, if she raised the kid to be respectful regardless, was that too bad? He's just 13
