ISRAEL'S Foreign Minister to visit Bahrain Foreign Minister Eli Cohen is leaving today for a diplomatic visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. This is the first visit of the Foreign Minister to one of the countries of the Abraham Accords. Foreign Minister Cohen will meet with his counterpart the Bahraini Foreign Minister and other government officials. In addition, Foreign Minister Cohen will officially inaugurate the permanent residence of the Israeli Embassy in Manama and sign a number of memoranda of understanding between Israel and Bahrain. Minister Cohen is leading a political and commercial delegation that will participate in activities to promote trade and investment between the countries. |

ISRAEL The Ministry of Defense has begun the process of purchasing the third squadron of the "Adir" (F35) aircraft, which will be absorbed by the IDF. Following the approval of the Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, and the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Major General (ret.) Eyal Zamir, the procurement delegation of the Ministry of Defense in the USA submitted an official request for procurement to the American HAF 35 Directorate in order to complete the approval and signing of the deal in months the near ones The Ministry of Defense will purchase from the American government 25 F35 aircraft, manufactured by Lockheed Martin in a deal that includes support and maintenance. Upon completion of the transaction, the fleet of the world's most advanced stealth aircraft operated by the Israeli Air Force will be expanded to 75. The supply of the planes to the IDF will begin in 2027 at a rate of 3 planes per year. The scope of the deal is estimated at about 3 billion dollars from the American aid funds. As part of the original agreement between the governments, the plane's manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, and the engine manufacturer, Pratt & Whitney, committed to share with Israeli companies in the production of the F35 planes sold to the countries that are equipping them. The new deal will allow the continuation of the commitment of the American companies to cooperate in the production of the aircraft parts with the Israeli industries. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in Larnaca Cyprus on an official visit. He was greeted by Cypriot Defense Minister Michalis Giorgallas. The visit will include bilateral meetings with President Nikos Christodoulides and a Trilateral Summit with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

SEOUL, Sept. 3 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has conducted a drill for a "simulated tactical nuclear attack," state media said Sunday, a day after the North fired cruise missiles following major joint exercise between South Korea and the United States. On Saturday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the North fired several cruise missiles toward the Yellow Sea at around 4 a.m. The launch came two days after the allies wrapped up their 11-day Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise which Pyongyang has denounced as a rehearsal for invasion. "A firing drill for simulated tactical nuclear attack was conducted at dawn of September 2 to warn the enemies of the actual nuclear war danger," the North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said, adding "two long-range strategic cruise missiles tipped with mock nuclear warheads were fired." |

Zelensky announces dismissal of Defense Minister Reznikov. President Zelensky announced his decision to dismiss Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov on Sept. 3, adding that the decision will be put to the parliament in the coming week. Reznikov will be replaced by Rustem Umerov. Umerov, a Crimean Tatar, was previously serving as a deputy head of the permanent delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and co-chair of the Crimea Platform.

Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni reversed the decision by his predecessor to suspend the Spanish city’s official relations with Israel, including its twinning agreement with Tel Aviv, local media reported on Friday. Tel Aviv represents “the best of Israel’s progressive values,” explained Collboni, while adding that Barcelona’s commitment to the Palestinian cause was “unequivocal.” In February, then-mayor Ada Colau released a public letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announcing the end of her city’s agreement of friendship and collaboration with Tel Aviv, citing “repeated violations of human rights of the Palestinian population.” “At the request of more than 100 entities and thousands of Barcelona neighbors, I have just communicated to Netanyahu that we suspend institutional relations with the State of Israel due to the repeated violations of human rights of the Palestinian population and non-compliance with United Nations resolutions,” she wrote on Facebook on in Spanish, and on Instagram. Lior Haiat, spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, called the move “unfortunate” and “in complete contrast to the position of the majority of the residents of Barcelona and their representatives in the city council.” The Barcelona city council also rejected Colau’s decision, with her Barcelona in Common party being the sole faction to vote in favor. Colau was voted out in June after being in power for eight years. “With the reestablishment of relations, we are also respecting the majority position of the plenary of the Barcelona city council,” Collboni said on Friday.
