Mexico: The city of Acapulco is devastated! Hurricane Otis ripped across Mexico’s southern Pacific coast as a powerful Category 5 storm early Wednesday, tearing through buildings in the resort city of Acapulco, sending sheets of earth down steep mountainsides and leaving large swaths of the southwestern state of Guerrero without power or cellphone service. While little is known about possible deaths or the full extent of the damage — the main highway into Acapulco was impassable — experts are calling Otis the strongest storm in history to make landfall along the Eastern Pacific Coast.

In Studio City, California, an intruder armed with a knife was arrested early this morning for breaking into a Jewish family's home and threatening to kill them. Tonight, the IDF carried out an unusual and extensive ground raid of infantry and armored forces inside the Gaza Strip. The raid was on a large scale and at a greater depth inside Gaza. The aim of the raid is to attack Hamas targets from within the Strip, and to strengthen the defense. The security establishment says that this is a more extensive operation than the raids carried out so far in the past two weeks in the Gaza Strip. |

Over the past day, IDF fighter jets struck over 250 Hamas terror targets in the Gaza Strip, including terror infrastructure, operational command centers, tunnel shafts, and rocket launchers placed in the heart of civilian areas that fired toward Israeli territory throughout the war. In addition, Israeli naval soldiers struck a Hamas surface-to-air missile launch post in the Khan Yunis area. The post is located adjacent to a mosque and kindergarten, which is further proof that Hamas deliberately uses civilian sites for terror purposes.

Something will need to be done with the war torn Gaza Strip and human displacement. GAZAN civilians have refugee status under the Organization of African Unity (OAU) convention. And through the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza, EGYPT IS REQUIRED to use absolute best efforts to “RECEIVE” them and “secure” their safe settlement in Egypt or elsewhere. The OAU convention is crystal clear that Egypt cannot subject Gazans to “REJECTION at the frontier, RETURN or EXPULSION” if it would have the effect of forcing civilians back to a "WAR-TORN GAZA." The United States provides Egypt with $3 billion a year in aid and is thus in a position to pressure it to live up to its international obligations. BN |
