There is nothing Chief in Igboland, that is modern invention when the British installed warrant chiefs in indirect rule. What we have in Igboland is Ichie or Ozo title for men chieftains and Odu or Iyom title for women Chieftains. |

Re: There Is Nothing Like Chief In Igboland, Chimanda Is Wrong by Odingo1: 2:03pm On Jan 05, 2023 |
DSC7:English is Chief but Igbos don’t give Chief to people until modern time. If one want to be a titled person you take Ozo or Ichie for men and for women you take Odu or Iyom. |

I am curious rn...if you say there is nothing as "chief" in Igbo land, How then would you address; 1. Osita Stephen Osadebe 2. Emeka Morocco Maduka 3. Oliver De Coque 4. Emeka Offor 5. RA Okonkwo.... The reason I brought these names is to know why they were called "chief" as they got their title years ago.. Chimamanda Adichie is a titled Chief POA: Stop clowning around in a public space.. 1 Like |

uchaymart:Ask questions. Chief mean Ichie or Ozo. When you translates all titles in English it mean Chief. In Igboland, Ozo title is different from Ichie title but they are all chief in English. |

Odingo1:Culture don't make people people make culture , the Igbos can decide to unite and crown one man as eze-igbo today if the wish but Igbos are individualistic not united ,so stop talking like Igbos came together and made certain rules for all Igbos to follow no , Igbos are individualistic they can change their culture individually and clanishly as it suits them If ojukwu had succeeded in creating Biafran for the Igbos they could have united and made him the king of Igbos for real , even though he failed they still gave him the title of EZE-NDI IGBO 2 Likes |
