There’s no better testament to the power of sound investment decisions than the story of Joshua Best Premie. The young man from Ambrose Alli University (AAU) embarked on a venture that was far ahead of his time, and it paid off big time.

Together with seven of his friends, Joshua Best Premie pool together funds to purchase 500,000 units of VitaForm stock. It was a risky move, but a worthwhile one. Within a year of buying the stock, the share price of the manufacturer of foam products shot up by a whopping 176%.

At the start of the year, the share price of VitaForm stock was just N8.75 per share. By the end of the year, however, the price had more than doubled to N21.5 per share. What’s more astounding is that Joshua’s foresight and fortitude powered him to great heights—the profits from this and other investments helped finance his schooling, and he was eventually awarded his degree in Political Science from AAU.

Although Joshua Best Premie’s success is not easily replicated, his story lights a torch of hope and possibility for other young Nigerians. With hard work and dedication, anyone can come to make the best investments in Nigeria.

That said, it’s important to note that investing isn’t just about luck. It is also about being well informed, independent, and disciplined. It is about knowing the companies you’re investing in and doing your homework. Vitafoam is a great example of success by a poor people to make something profitable in ambiguous times.

Joshua Best Premie’s story proves that with hard work, dedication and the ability to recognize potentially profitable opportunities, young Nigerians can succeed just as readily as the best investors in Nigeria. And who knows, maybe if we’re lucky, they may become just as successful.
