There are several reasons why many Western countries/ organizations are now aiming to attract skilled workers from abroad:

1. Some labour sectors and geographic regions are experiencing a shortage of skilled labour.

2. Demographic statistics and trends indicate that many of those countries now have such low birth rates that their GDP/quality of life will drastically drop unless suitable labour is attracted from abroad.

3. Qualified immigrants often contribute cultural diversity, creative impulses, and a strong work ethic. These often lead to improved business opportunities, growth and greater profitability for their employers.

4. International skilled workers increase the pool of applicants and improve the chances of finding the most suitable candidates for vacant positions.

5. For international organizations, immigrants bring extant knowledge of markets, countries, cultures and languages with them. Thus, qualified professionals from abroad are already familiar with country-specific market trends/ decision patterns that may positively impact the development of new customer or business segments.

6. Immigrants often receive lower pay than citizens (at least initially, or until they also become citizens). This means their employers are getting top-grade staff at lower costs.

7. Many immigrants go through a lot of financial, social, and emotional challenges/ stress to "Jakpa". Thus, they are usually laser-focused and very highly determined to make a success of life in their new country.

etc, etc, etc!
