(1) It’s expensive. The big state (public) schools are well known and very popular with American students because they get reduced tuition - their families have paid taxes to support the school. But you won’t get that discount, so you might as well go to a good private school which are usually much better, less bureaucratic, and can give you more personal attention. And remember, you CAN NOT WORK at anything but a part-time on-campus job arranged by the school.

(2) Choose carefully, and choose SMART. Many foreigners say they want to go an “Ivy League” school. The “Ivy League” is a FOOTBALL league. Is American football your primary concern? Others have heard a few names on the TV news and want to go to those “top” schools. But being on TV does not make them good schools. Generally speaking, the best schools are in the Northeast and California, though there are exceptions. DO NOT rely on advertisements or rumors from “friends” in your country who don’t know any more than you do.
