Guys, what viable investment opportunities are there for regular people to invest in? Please advise. Would also like to know if there are any opportunities for starting a venture capitalist forum.

If you have a lot of money personaly,
I guess angel investing is not out of the question.
Venture capital means investing other people's money.

Yeah Seun, thanks, and I mean VC. I want to have a pool of people who would jointly invest in particular businesses. The more the people the more the funds available.

We would analyze several businesses together and then decide on which ones to invest in. I hope that communicates my intention more clearly.

That's cool.  I think it's called an angel group.  A group of people working together to invest in the same companies, with their own money, is an angel group.  With venture capital, the people providing the capital are different from the decision-makers.

You think it would be a good idea to start something like that in Nigeria? And what viable businesses do you think people could invest in?

BTW, you're Seun Osewa aren't you?

It will be successful in the sense that people will happily take your money.
Whether you will actually achieve a decent return is a different matter.
Why not just invest your own money in very tiny businesses?
I don't think investing should really be a gang activity.

@Seun: I do gangs, and it works for me. risk is spread (ofcourse profit is spread too), and people bring free advice.
