This instruction show you guide on how to performexhaust cooler NRS test for Caterpillar 325F excavator C4.4 engine.

Procedures:

1.Follow steps 1a to 1g to test the coolant side of the exhaust gas cooler (NRS).

a.Plug the coolant inlet (2) of the exhaust gas cooler (NRS) (3) using Tooling (B).

b.Plug the coolant outlet port (4) using Tooling (B) and connect with tube and pressure regulator assembly.

c.Make sure that the air pressure regulator is closed and connect compressed air to the pressure regulator.

d.Use Tooling (A) to apply an air pressure of 200 kPa (29 psi) to the exhaust gas cooler (NRS).

e.Observe the exhaust gas cooler (NRS) for 5 minutes. If the pressure gauge reading drops by more than 20 kPa (3 psi), this indicates a leak with the exhaust gas cooler (NRS). Note the location or the origin of the leak. The leak may be internal or external. Record this information.

f.If the pressure gauge reading does not drop by more than 20 kPa (3 psi) after 5 minutes, the exhaust gas cooler (NRS) is reusable.

g.If the exhaust gas cooler (NRS) does not leak, the problem may be elsewhere in the cooling system or the engine. Refer to the service manual to check for leakage. If the exhaust gas cooler (NRS) does leak, the exhaust gas cooler (NRS) should be replaced.

2.Follow steps 2a to 2g to test the gas side of the exhaust gas cooler (NRS).

a.Plug the gas inlet (5) of the exhaust gas cooler (NRS) (3) using Tooling (B).

b.Plug the gas outlet port (1) using Tooling (B) and connect with tube and pressure regulator assembly.

c.Make sure that the air pressure regulator is closed and connect compressed air to the pressure regulator.
