A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Osita Chidoka says the South-East should back the party in the 2023 elections.

While observers believe Labour Party’s Peter Obi who is from the region will disrupt PDP’s dominance in the South-East, the former Aviation Minister said it would be unwise for Igbos to leave the party they have supported since 1999.

“The Igbo position for me is that our significant investment in the PDP for 24 years cannot be thrown away overnight. I remain in the PDP and many Igbos remain in the PDP, ” he said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

He believes that while advocates of an Igbo presidency outside the PDP are not wrong, the main opposition party is the shortest route for the South-East to clinch the country’s top seat.

Conceding that Peter Obi has made significant progress in wooing Nigerians, he maintains that is not enough. According to him, the South-East must move a step closer to make the presidential dream a reality.

“The Igbo presidency is just around the corner. Once an Igbo man is capable of holding on strong in a party and controlling the levers of that party, that is going to happen soon,” the PDP chieftain added.

On the presidential election, Chidoka argued that the PDP is poised to win the exercise, citing the party’s organisational structure and its candidate’s experience and resilience.

“Atiku Abubakar has won the election. It is just a matter of time. When we get to February 25th, the country will say it,” he said.

Atiku, he adds, is capable of mopping up votes across the country. Despite the inter wranglings in the PDP, Chidoka says that won’t affect its candidate’s chances.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has not done well for the country and thus won’t win votes in many parts of Nigeria, he says.

“They have significantly degraded the capacity of Nigeria as a nation. They have degraded our unity in diversity and our economy,” Chidoka said.

Osita Chidoka too?! This is one of the guys within the traditional political fold who I initially thought had sense. Thank God this 2023 election has really exposed them to be hungry scoundrels and useless scavengers.

Osita Chidoka who one would have thought was a smart, progressive and youthful Nigerian leader is here supporting Atiku under the flimsy guise of 'Igbo Presidency' simply because he wants a chance to dip his hands in the nation's treasury through his party. These guys dont even care about Nigeria's survival (which is really what this 2023 election is about); they only care about their bellies.

You want to continue using your Igbo population to remain relevant in PDP and feed fat at the expense of the common Igbo people on the streets of Enugu, Aba, Onitsha, Owerri, Abakilike etc.

See him, the former Minister under PDP who is too privileged to know what Igbos are suffering. He is living outside Igboland and advising the people living in Southeast.

Osita Chidoka is an irredeemable fool!
PDP knew South East has backed them for 24years and the only way they could pay them back is by giving a Fulani man their ticket when everyone agreed it's to come to South!

Unfortunately for PDP, we are not wheel barrow. We always go for the lesser evil in any election!

Now, Obi is the lesser evil and his party is inconsequential to the struggle.
