Now don't derail this thread anymore it's a serious topic. OK?

The exit door is over there>>>>>pops.Seems you are getting hot under that collar of yours. grin

Of course its serious, birdbrain, thats why you heed govt warnings and flee at all costs, its that simple. This should be all over local News in nigeria, and there should be outburst not only now but in every situation where nigerian citizens are in danger abroad.this is not the only unique situation. How are there no flights or secret convoys across the Libya-niger border to rescue more nigerians

Young'un it's ok, I'm not fighting you.  grin

Now I see you are getting the message. I knew you'ld find a way to make me proud.  smiley

I'm not sure of where you read me refer to this as a unique situation for Nigerians or dark skinned people though. You made that mistake earlier and I corrected you. Don't go back now son.  embarassed

Yes you are right, it's an outrage and it should be all over the news, but the fact that it's not, points to the silly and sad attitude we have towards it as a government and a people. That was my main point all along. That took a while but you got it eventually. I'm sincerely happy for you.  wink

Now, as per not heeding government warning, which government's warning did they not heed? Libya or Nigeria? and how did you expect them to do that in a conflict like that? even more affluent expatriates from richer countries relied on their government for evacuation.

Are you saying they should have started walking into the Sahara desert on day 1 or Maybe jump into the sea and swim towards Italy or Malta "at all cost" (remember they are blacks)

Now, do you really believe that the thousands of Nigerians in Libya got the robust assistance needed to ease their evacuation from Libya but somehow just refused to board the many ships, planes, ferries and buses we sent.? Really?

Did you read the complaint and report about the over 7,000 folks we abandoned at the Tripoli Airport?

Don't be callous bro, we could have done more for our people. If we don't admit our mistakes, we can't correct it. You read how other countries evacuated their citizens didn't you?

Can you honestly say that Nigeria did anything close to "responsible" early on in this conflict? With three or four flights and less than 4k evacuated?

Abeg plese ignore him, he is just seeking attention and the only way he thinks he can get it is by bashing other people opinions. It makes feel smart in his own little deranged manner. Just agree with him and move on, the way you would treat a mad man. The people who are truly concerned about the post will continue to post and discuss publicly and privately.

Libyan rebels holding 200 Nigerians hostageBy Yusuf Alli, Abuja 07/09/2011 00:00:00

[s]•A National Transitional Council (NTC) fighter (left) guards three men suspected of belonging to a Gaddafi underground group during a raid in Tripoli’s flashpoint Abu Slim neighbourhood , yesterday. The city has become dangerous for black immigrant wor[/s]

More violence against migrants
The crackdown on Nigerians in Libya continued yesterday, with the arrest of 25 by the rebel-controlled Transitional National Council (TNC), which has slackened Col. Muammar Gaddafi’s 42-year grip on power.
The development has brought the number of Nigerians in detention to over 200, The Nation learnt. There are fears that the detained Nigerians may be killed by the rebels, if the Federal Government does not act on time.
A spokesman for trapped Nigerians in Tripoli, Mr. Daramola Siji, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said: “About 25 Nigerians were today arrested in Tripoli and they are being detained in Salahdin part of the capital city. We have no access to them at all.
“So far, we have over 200 Nigerians being detained in various parts of Libya. We do not know their fate. We are praying that they will not be killed like other black migrant workers.
“The general pattern is that the rebels mount roadblocks and everytime black people are sighted in a bus, they will quickly arrest them and hound them into various cells in the city.”
Asked how Nigerians fell into rebels’ hands, Siji said: “Having been without food, they decided to venture out of their homes to look for what to buy and, in the process, most of them were arrested.
“I wish to appeal to the Federal Government to take action. We could not reach the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Olugbenga Ashiru, who has been sympathetic to our plight, with the opening up of talks with the TNC leaders.
“Although the Minister designated our Ambassador to Ethiopia to take charge of the situation in Libya, the envoy has remained incommunicado.”
Responding to a question, Siji said: “The rebels felt the black migrants were the mercenaries used by Muammar Gaddafi to fight them and that is why they are embarking on retaliatory killings.
“But we have made the TNC to realise that the mercenaries used by Gaddafi were mostly Chadians and Nigeriens. No Nigerian fought on the side of Gaddafi.”
A top source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who spoke in confidence, said: “The Minister is away in Sweden for Nordic Ministers meeting. But he is on top of the situation, even from his base abroad.
“We have got assurances from the TNC, Britain and France that black migrants will no longer be attacked.”

Like i read in an article it says that Kadafi usually hires black huges from Ruanda to fight and kill rebels
Now the rebels are considering Nigerians as among those that distroyed them. If this was true any black sense person could have left that country just at the fresh start of the war, Nigerian in general should know how wicked our Gov are, they could ve run to nearby befor it get worse, the rebels are just using the previllage to kill our people that they long hated and have been wished to send out of their country for long, there a game here i guess.

i totally disagree with article you read, Gaddafi has not mercenaries from Ruwanda, Nigeria, Ghana or Cono fighting for him, most of his mercenaries are from Niger, Chad, Mauritania and Algeria.

the link does not prove anything dear, when the Arab League, David Cameron, Nicholas Scarkozy, Hilary Clinton and all other leaders met in France with the Libyan National Transitional Council, they all made their speeches but non referred specifictly to the killing of innocent black african migrants by the rebels. i listened to the speech, all David Cameron said was there had bn human rights abuse committed by both sides which was going to be investigated.

On Al-Jazeera (Listening Post) James Bays a respected journalist who had reported on the plight of Nigerians living in the port side of Libya said whenever the journalists reported or questioned atrocities committed by the rebels, the rebels were always hostile towards the journalists and were baring the journalists from filiming them fighting pro Gadaffi courses so the journalist had to stop reporting on those atrocities.

thamesmead you are spot on - this journalist below was threatened by another western journalist with DEATH!!! if he didnt stop reporting THE TRUTH of what is actually going on in libya!!! the western journalist (who was a CIA agent posing as a journalist) was staying in the same hotel as him in tripoli and was eavesdropping on the honest journalists conversations, the dishonest journalist then went back to his masters in washington and reported the guy - the guy was threatened, at one point he thought he would be handed over to the rebels to be tortured and killed - i still dont know whether or not he was tortured as he seems traumatised in his recent videos.

here he is while still in tripoli, the hotel he was staying in was surrounded by the rebels and he was terrified that he was going to get killed, fortunately for him he happens to have been born in canada and was able to get out of tripoli by boat to malta - he is now back in canada:

thamesmead - listen very carefully to what he says about NGOs and various other so called human rights organisations.
