You are right, this is a popular method of initial automation of the work of the sales department, which allows you to maintain a customer base, control payments from customers and forecast revenue. But for a larger business, such a system is not suitable.

There are also more sophisticated automation systems. Trello, Jira, Asana are services where you can set tasks for employees and distribute them among team members.
