According to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, when implemented properly, a cashless policy in Nigeria can reduce the amount of illegitimate election financing by making it easier to track funds. In his own words: "I believe that building more infrastructure is what we should be focusing on. The cashless system has been quite helpful and facilitates tracking. The more financial inclusion you have, the easier it is to track, and that kind of infrastructure is helpful for that. Cashless policy is a great initiative Sir. It will definitely curb alot of malpractices and excesses in our financial sector and also an obstacle against vote buying as it will enhance a free, fair, uninterrupted and credible election. |
