Harden Not Your Heart [Part Two]

Don't harden your heart to God's voice! In Hebrews 4:7, the Bible warns against becoming resistant to His call. Don't repeat the mistake of the religious leaders in Matthew 28:11-15 who bribed the guards who had witnessed the glorious miracle of Christ resurrection to buy their conscience and kill the truth; and sadly we still have such tendencies among religious leaders today.

Instead of hardening our hearts, we must cultivate a soft and responsive heart towards truth and God for a passionate and purposeful relationship with Him.

Why harden your heart?

The story of Pharaoh is a perfect example for us all to see the consequence of ignoring God's commands and allowing our hearts to become hardened against the truth. We cannot fight against the truth, however hard we may try. It's important to understand also that God does not cause hearts to harden, but rather, it is our own choices that shape our hearts' condition. It is the will of God that we are saved, and this is the reason why He calls us today, with his arms wide open to all who will submit themselves to being redeemed!

Why belittle the evidence of God's love?

The Psalmist in Psalm 95:7-11 refers to the Israelites' lack of faith in God despite witnessing His miracles and wonders, such as their freedom from slavery in Egypt. Despite experiencing God's love and power, they became doubters and deserted the covenant, thus inciting God's wrath. This serves as a warning to all of us today to examine our own faith and consider whether we too may be hardening our hearts against the evidence of God's love and power.

Are we provoking God by ignoring the signs of His presence in our lives?
