The People's Democratic Party (PDP) held a presidential campaign rally in Kano, Nigeria, with its national chairman, Iyorcha Ayu, in attendance. During the rally, Ayu made a misstep by urging the electorate to reject the PDP. He stated that the party had brought shame to the country on a global scale, but quickly corrected himself and asked the crowd to vote for the PDP.

In a video making wave online Dr Ayu Iyorchia said "PDP has brought us shame. They are full of lies. They have nothing to offer the ‘talakas’ ([/b]poor) in Nigeria. We will come back"


This mistake by Ayu is reminiscent of a similar error made by the PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during a campaign rally in Jos in December. Abubakar, while addressing a large crowd, asked for their support for the PDP, but in the heat of the moment, he referred to the party as AP instead.
