If this happens in the US, proceedings to impeach a president that defies the Supreme Court would be swift.

People don't seem to understand that in undermining the Supreme Court, this President has set a very dangerous precedent that goes to the very roots of the country's legitimacy as a constitutional entity. Other Presidents are likely to do same in future.

Once the Supreme Court is defenestrated, we are on the road reckless lawlessness.

Foreign investors will look at the disregard for even the Supreme Court & they will say no, thank you, we would rather invest in another country where Court rulings affecting our contractual and property rights will be respected.

Wrong.. dead wrong.. is this worse than the january 6th riots? the ruling party gets the senate so explain how the impeachment will fly.. you need 2/3 of the senate..

At this rate, Buhari would definitely plunge the country into avoidable chaos.

He has a sinister motive and he's no longer hiding it.

After all, he's got nothing to lose since he's no longer coming back to power.

So make cloth tear if e like, e no consign the demon.

If this country is a sane country this is an avenue to impeach buhari’s government as an eye opener that the interest of the people is supreme and his personal parting gift shouldn’t affect the populace negatively , Buhari has failed himself and Nigerians big time , Egypt was not as bad as this before the government was removed by the people . God help us that the country don’t burn with the incompetence of the present day government whose only loyalty is to their immediate family who don’t stay or feel the Nigeria factor

Law is based on justice , not technicalities. Secondly, Nigeria's legal system is just one sided which makes the country seem lawless. Anyway, let's see how well your supreme court does against the orders or this president.

This is a matter of national security and the academic exercise at the Supreme Court is only meant for the dust bin

I hope if Buhari declares for security purposes Sharia Law will take effect nationwide you wouldn't be referring to the Constitution or the Supreme Court to oppose his ruling.

Buhari has really stepped over the line and this can have serious repercussions. Allow him to get away with this is supporting the formation of a dictatorship. What next will he do?.... postpone or cancel the elections?

Supreme court has no knowledge of monetary policy. If you think otherwise why can't the supreme court pass a judgment against naira devaluation or decree the naira be exchanged at a certain amount.... Issues like this is clearly out of their jurisdiction and the power lies solely with the CBN governor. Politicians always go to court if things don't go their way, sadly not this one

Where are you from given this ur misfirings!!
Is CBN greater than the Supreme Court?
Or is CBN operating in a silos without constitutional mandates?
These are the questions you need to verify properly before coming to misyarn grin
The CBN is only recognized as the Apex Bank not Apex country of its own. Despite that, they work simultaneously with the treasury for the the Fed government. CBN Gov. Seat is based on the executive appointment and the seat is subject to the FRN constitutions.
Go and fix your faculty and avoid misconception on this platform, ok grin

Leave internet law and go enforce the supreme court's decision!

No police or soldier will enforce anything not instructed by the bosses who equally take instructions from Aso Rock!

There is no decentralization of government, no state police... Let me see how your confused and desperate governors will enforce it too.

The majority of the populace listen only to Aso Rock!

That is why we're all bleeped! It is nothing for any sane person to jubilate over!

Buhari should ignore the supreme court and its corrupt decision. For years there was scarcity and many of these governors who are now suing the federal government didn't care about the masses , but since they know this decision runs contrary to their political advantages they are willing to run their own parallel rule of law irrespective of what the FG say

Don't mind them we all know its for their selfish reason not necessarily for the interest of the masses. Even the Judiciary is corrupt. I don't understand why they all suddenly want to convince us that they truly care for us. Where were the governor and the Judiciary when parliative was hidden, then Assu emberk on 8 month strike, when PHCN tariff was secretly increase, When Vehicle insurance was increase, even the lingering fuel scarcity etc. They never show concern. Let the policy stands we will cope till after the election.

Oh, so somehow the CBN Act is law, but the Constitution of Nigeria is not law?
Do you know what the concept of a grundnorm is? It as a foundational principle.

The Constitution is the grundnorm in Nigeria. It is the Supreme Law.
That's right, and courts interpret the law. It is the exclusive right of the courts.

And among courts, there is also a Supreme Court.
Dumbass.

The people that will feel a bit relieved with this development will speak to you through their ballot paper...

IPIGSRHYPO:

How many people in the North or Sw do you know that supports Buhari blindly or always making excuses for his failures? I don't know many.
The difference between the so called 2 actors that you identified is this- one group have shown over the years including when they supported Jonathan to always blindly support someone because of tribal leanings and to always blames others for the failure of the person they support. When Jonathan was failing, these people blamed the opposition for lack of fuel towards the end of his administration . They claimed it was Tinubu that made fuel scares.
The other actors have loyalty too but you will not hear any reasonable one among them saying Peter Obi is responsible for the failures of Buhari. They will admit that this govt have not lived up to their expectations. You will not hear an average Northerner claiming that Buhari failed because some other tribe sabotage his administration. They will accept their failure and move one.
So your analysis is invalid.
At the first bolded.. I beg to differ. If you're honest, you would've known that Buhari have disobeyed over 7 court orders. Two of them were for Dansuki, three for Nnamdi Kanu, two for Olisah Metuh and the rest. Yet numerous Buharist if not all of them supported Buhari. Why cry wolf now??..

Secondly.... The only time some Northern political elites were fingered in Jonathan's Government was the unfortunate kidnap of chibok girls. And if you still don't believe it was so, then I can't help you. At least Tinubu's second Ogun outburst concerning fuel scarcity and naira redesign, has given credence to it, that such sabotage exists and can be fully implemented. there are blind loyalist on both sides, I don't encourage any. But one side shouldn't play the moral god.

Enjoy the political atmosphere; chaotic yet interesting.

It is really a pathetic situation for Nigeria and Nigerians respectively. The blatant disrespect of rule of law is entirely disturbing and unimaginable. Impunity is thriving more than ever before even as the populace are suffering as a result of the difficulties occasioned by FG's inadequacies.
