A non-stress test, also known as a fetal heart rate monitoring test, is a simple and non-invasive procedure that is typically performed during the third trimester of pregnancy. The test involves attaching two sensors to the mother's abdomen to measure the fetal heart rate and uterine contractions.

The purpose of the non-stress test is to assess the fetus's heart rate in response to its movements. When a fetus moves, its heart rate should increase, indicating that it is receiving the necessary oxygen and nutrients from the placenta.
