We had an hour to kill before we had to take the train back, so of course I found a bar and enjoyed a Walnut Old Fashioned which was very delish! Lovely bar too with live music (pianist).

Yes, it is possible. Your money and/or work skills matter. If you are very good at what you do and have a high-demand skill, you can get a job while outside the country. But it is very competitive because there are less than 5000 visas available to companies in Switzerland to employ foreigners. Before employing foreigners, employers have to advertise the job to Swiss first, then if there is no candidate, have to notify the government that she cannot see candidates for the opening. Mind you, this 5000 includes EU citizens and the rest of the world.

The dominant language is Swiss-German, a slightly different form of German. French is also important and official, ditto Italian. But Swiss-German is the dominant language. English applies to mostly software jobs.

For Masters, while Swiss universities are relatively affordable compared to peers in the UK and US, the cost of living in the country is very high. Items are priced higher in Switzerland than countries abut to her. Non-EU/EEA students can only begin work after six months of their program. So, if your program is one year, you can only work for half a year.

Bants aside, I can imagine the wealth in Switzerland. Being in an East Asian country (not even the capital city), wealth oozes everywhere. Let alone the country with the highest salaries in the whole of Europe and niche industries from commodity trading to to luxury watches to specialist dairy/chocolate agriculture to wealth management/private banking to sophisctaed chemicals/pharamceutical production to advanced industrial and scientific research.

Spent a day in Piazza del Duomo, enjoyed SEVERAL Champagne Bars…Rooftop views of the Santa Maria del Grazie…afternoon tea time at EL & N, and several hours of shopping at the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II! It’s called the fashion capital for a reason. My feet are sore but my heart is so full! 🥰

PS. They have a great transportation system, so if you visit be prepared to get your steps and hit the the metro!

I also enjoyed a wonderful evening at the opera!

Duomo at night was magical!

Lovely dinner and stroll through the piazza Duomo

Enjoyed several champagne bars!

The food did not disappoint!

Afternoon tea and great shopping!

Vintage shopping (which is the best in Italy) and more great wine!

As mentioned before, public transportation is cheap and easy to navigate. Both the cocktails, small bits and wine was excellent throughout my visit!
