The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the people of the state will not vote for a presidential candidate that will kill him when elected into office.

Wike stated this while speaking at the Obio-Akpor LGA campaign rally on Saturday organised by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The governor said the people of the state would only vote for unity, fairness and equity, while also commending governors from the All Progressives Congress, for their stance on power shift to the South.

Wike said, “We are going to vote for the unity of Nigeria. We are going to vote for equity, fairness and justice. And that is why I salute the APC governorship who came out to say, for this country to be united, for this country to move on as one, that there is the need for power to shift.



Wike, who did not mention any candidate in particular, as well as four other PDP governors; Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, have consistently demanded the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, as a prerequisite to supporting the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming polls, stating that the national chairman and the presidential candidate should not be from one region of the country, which in this case is the North
