The founder of popular Nigerian news forum; Nairaland Seun Osewa as share his view how cashless policy will affect general Election. Seun share this on his Twitter handle the negative effect of Cashless policy and how it will affect both INEC official and electorate. Here is what he wrote, Cash spent during elections isn't only for vote buying. It's also for paying agents of the party to monitor the 176,606 polling units in the country from morning till evening & prevent cheating by other parties. If parties can't get cash, it could lead to MORE electoral fraud. Normally, parties would just pay them by bank transfer. Then they would withdraw cash as needed to pay for transport, food, etc. But in the current state of the economy, just 1 week to the election, they can't reliably withdraw cash; many of them won't be able to do their jobs. Anything to stop the mad drug lord. They should try and use cashless payment to buy and pay for whatever thing they need. Are Nigerians not doing it already? Yesterday, just to buy a couple of things in the market. I was doing transfers like mad. Something I would've finished and head home in less than 10 minutes took me over 40 minutes. Meanwhile, this mad man above me, why not play the games you're posting and explode a millionaire? You're just a poor miserable scammer! 2 Likes |

This election will be the worst in this country because they want to stop vote buying but unfortunately, the policy will encourage vote buying on Election Day. What do you expect from someone that has no kobo at hand on Election Day and someone offers him 200 cash to vote for his party, how will he not accept the money when there is no cash in circulation? Before this policy, politician were buying votes from 2k.upwad but now, they will buy the vote from 200 naira this time around. Anybody who believes this policy will stop vote buying, that person still dreaming. |
