Lent is not about Mary or the pope..

It is to commemorate the 40 days jesus was in the wilderness...it will come to an end on the last week before Easter....where the holy week will herald the Easter celebration....

It is the beginning of the Lenten season. It is usually a day where ash is given on the fore head of the faithfuls. The ash are from the psalm Sunday of the previous year....

A cross is marked on the forehead with the words "From dust you where made, to dust you shall return"...

Fasting and abstinence is usually recommended for the faithfuls...
