Words have the ability of going into the future before us. They create what we see and experience in this three-dimensional world. So, what we see today is a result of what we have spoken over our lives – or what was spoken over us by someone else.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Proverbs 18:21)

The Living Bible translation puts it this way: “Those who love to talk will suffer the consequences. Men have died for saying the wrong things.” This scripture buttresses the creative power of words.

You are either made or marred in life by words – the words you speak, or the words that are spoken over you by somebody else. Your life is a product of words. These words have creative ability, and they go into the future before you. They eventually create the future you have spoken over yourself and/or the future was spoken over you by someone else.

The TLB version says men have died for saying the wrong things. In the same vein, men have been made for saying the right things, men have been lifted by God for saying the right things.

Words are powerful and they determine how far your life will go. What does the Bible say in Psalm 34: 12-13?
“What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.”

Do you want to see good days? Then speak your tongue from speaking nonsense. If you desire life, speak life. This is a season when words will rule; you must check what you speak. The Bible, in James 3:10, tells us that blessing and cursing proceeds from the mouth. But you see, we ought to choose blessing. We are encouraged to focus on the blessing. You should commit yourself more to speaking the blessings – instead of the curses. Here are the words of Jesus:

“A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” (Matthew 12: 35-37).

You are justified or condemned by words. So, what do you do when wrong words are spoken over you? You immediately counter them with right words and blessings from your own mouth. Your words have greater impact over your life. In fact, your words, filled with faith, are powerful enough to slaughter an entire army.

You may ask, how can I help myself speak life and bring forth good words? Perhaps, you are so used to speaking wrong things that you need help… The solution to this challenge lies in meditation. You should meditate daily on the Word of God. Renew your mind and thoughts daily with the Word. Meditate with the scripture until it becomes a part of your everyday life and conversation.

This year 2023, commit yourself to meditating on the Word of God every day. Your words will change your life. Again, your words will change your life.
