Thugs had never died in Ibadan, even during Ajumobi they still do their excesses, just few are reported. Remember it was during Ajumobi time a whole federal lawmaker was murdered in broad daylight and nothing happen till today

Makinde is singlehandedly responsible for the reemergence of thugs in Ibadan politics
Ajimobi already killed those thugs before he resurrected them on assuming office

Governor Seyi Makinde brought a new dimension to the relationship between politics and the transport unions. He banned the NURTW and created the Oyo State Parks Management System (PMS).

The chairman of the Oyo State Parks Management System is Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila (aka Auxiliary). Auxiliary was a chieftain of the NURTW, but he fell out with others in the union and then Governor Makinde banned the union and made him the chairman of the Parks Management System. Auxiliary is also believed to be a political thug and an enforcer for the Oyo State Government.

Senator Teslim Folarin was a member of the PDP during the battle between Tokyo and Eleweomo, but he is now the APC candidate in the 2023 Oyo State governorship election.

At the Oyo State governorship debate, Teslim Folarin said that the creation of the Parks Management System was political and "even if you want to create such a committee, the person that they appointed as chairman is an ex-convict. What kind of message is the government trying to send by making an ex-convict the leader" ?

Governor Makinde responded to that allegation by saying, "The person that is calling someone an ex-convict, who killed Eleweomo and where's the file? It is still with me as governor of Oyo State. It is a criminal case, but I don't want to go into that now".

Teslim Folarin responded by saying, "Just because you are a governor does not give you the right to make irresponsible allegations.

If you are the governor of a state and you know who killed Eleweomo, then charge him to court. I don't think a governor should get involved in beer parlour politics".

Makinde interrupted him and said, "The file is with me".

Folarin replied, "Oya take it. Take it to court. Why haven't you taken it? I challenge you".

I do not like the duo but that was an irresponsible remark by the Governor. If the file was with you, why didn;t you do the needful? Why staying silent on you?

It was a very irresponsible allegation from the number 1 security officer of the state. You could not imply that Folarin killed Eleweomo without criminal charge. He did not even respond to the allegation of making a brutal ex convict to be the Chairman.

It is so unfortunate that both leading contestants are just empty heads.

What wil cause protest? By charging someone who has been criminally alleged to court? So the Governor should not do the needful. Reflect on what you typed again.

I was in Dugbe market and shops were closing really fast, I asked what happened, they said they have killed Eleweomo, I didn't know who he was, I entered bike and went home. It was one Pastor that was at the PDP event gave his account of the story, said men came down fro a vehicle and shot him on the presence of everyone. The crisis paved way for Ajimobi and Alao Akala lost.

Background.

Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu was the godfather of Oyo politics. He passed away in 2008 and this exacerbated a crisis that he had started.

Rasheed Ladoja was "elected" governor of Oyo State through the help of Alhaji Adedibu. However, Adedibu wanted to determine who was appointed into government positions in Oyo State and this led to a dispute between him and his godson. Governor Ladoja appealed to President Obasanjo and PDP Chairman Ahmadu Ali, but they both told him to do whatever Adedibu said. Ladoja refused and this led to a very serious crisis and violence in Oyo State.

In 2006, the Oyo State House of Assembly, acting on the orders of Adedibu and Obasanjo, "impeached" Governor Ladoja and his deputy, Christopher Alao Akala became governor. Akala was loyal to Adedibu and he had become antagonistic to Governor Ladoja before his impeachment. Ladoja went to court to challenge his impeachment.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Adedibu died in 2008.

Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (a.k.a Tokyo) was the chairman of the NURTW in Oyo State and Alhaji Lateef Salako (a.k.a. Eleweomo) was his deputy. However, there had been friction between the two since 1999. Tokyo believed that Eleweomo wanted to stage a coup and take over the chairmanship from him.

The friction between Tokyo and Eleweomo led to violence on the streets of Ibadan, but this violence was kept in check by Adedibu. However, with Adedibu's death and the war between Ladoja and Akala, the violence spiralled out of control.

The Senate majority leader, Senator Teslim Folarin and former Governor Ladoja and Tokyo were grouped on one side, while Governor Alao Akala and Eleweomo were grouped on the other side.

Things came to a head at the Oyo State PDP Congress in 2010 when Eleweomo was killed in broad daylight. There were allegations that Tokyo and Senator Folarin were responsible for the murder and indeed both men were arrested by the Oyo State Police Command. They had been arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Ibadan and were being tried at the High Court, but something happened.

President Goodluck Jonathan wanted to contest the 2011 presidential election on the platform of the PDP, but former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also wanted to be the PDP presidential candidate. President Jonathan needed all the help that he could get in order to win the primary election.

Senator Teslim Folarin was qualified to be a delegate at the PDP National Convention/Presidential Primary and he would certainly vote for President Jonathan, but he was in jail in Ibadan.

Suddenly (a day before the PDP Presidential Primaries) and without the knowledge of the Oyo State Government, the police withdrew the charges against Senator Folarin. The Presidency had arranged for a private jet to wait at the Ibadan Airport and it flew Senator Teslim Folarin to Abuja so that he could vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the primaries.

Mehn! This could be turned into a movie or mini series. Nice narrative.

Nigerians are the biggest fools on the planet. I doubt if there is any country where if their elected officials do not act, they would not be held accountable.

Your parents and whoever worked, as such, they should get paid. The governor is not being nice for paying salaries or pensions, they have earned it. Why are we as a country so dumb? People are bigger than the elected officials that represent you. A governor that doesn't pay salaries shoukd be hounded and forced to resign.

Do the ex governors collect their own pensions late? We need to wake up on this country. Your senate, house of reps, everyone you guys vote for bends you over and bleeps you and you take it with a smile. Nigerians are fools. Look at Dino for example. He flaunts your own money that he stole from you and you ask for god of Dino to bless you. A contesting governor aspiranr is accused of terrorism and state sponsored violence and none of you idiots demand accountability. All you guys know is how to steal money so that you can oppress each other.

Bunch of fools
