UNN Goes Against FG, Mandates Staff To Work During The Election Periods by Worriedguy2022: 12:47pm On Feb 23, 2023
In a move that has bewildered the University community and threw despair amongst staffers of the institution, University of Nigeria Nsukka has directed that the school shouldn't be shut down during the electioneering period as mandated by the Federal Government through a circular sent to all the Federal Universities by National Universities Commission. A move many are pointing as a blatant attempt to coerce and disenfranchise many of the staffers in the institution.

In a memo released, UNN management threatened to purnish any staff who stayed away from work during the election period. In order words, staff that should travel back to where they have their polling unit shouldn't do that.

This amounts to disenfranchisement of the said staff.

Recall that Mr Peter Obi, a leading contender in the Saturday Presidential poll graduated from the institution.

Attached in picture 1 is a memo from NUC ordering for a total SHUTDOWN of all Universities for the elections.

Picture 2 shows the counter memo from UNN ordering that it's campuses and offices shouldn't be shutdown.

N.BNUC is the regulatory body of all public Universities.
