The Labor Party (LP) has criticized the process of collecting the results of last Saturday’s presidential and legislative elections by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC), saying it will oppose the result in court. The LP alleges that most of its members have been deliberately disenfranchised through various means around the country, but are more discerning in its strongholds. The party, in a statement issued by the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim on Sunday, said that while the party was advancing with high votes in most parts of northern Nigeria, LP members tried to prevent voting, to be violently kicked out of polling stations, ballots, or ballot boxes are destroyed elsewhere. He cited Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Kano, Yobe and Edo states among places where such acts were rampantly perpetrated in violation of the electoral act 2022 as amended. LP should follow the due process and they will be victorious at last. APC, the rejected vultures, cannot win elections by thuggery and violence. God has opposed APC and so shall it stand. |
