“We must draw the line where politics gives way for nationalism - Obekpa urges Atiku, Obi in his congratulatory message to Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state, Arc, Anthony Obekpa has congratulated the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Recall that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was on Tuesday morning declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election. The former Lagos governor polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals, former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who polled 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 to emerge second and third respectively.

The Benue grassroots politician in his congratulatory message, described Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as a forthright leader and committed progressive who carefully built bridges across the country.

“It is obvious that your clear victory in the just concluded presidential election is as a result of the bridges of friendship you built across Nigeria over the years. Your unreserved dedication and sacrifice to the development and strengthening of our democracy, and dogged progressive principles which remained dauntless in the face of political prosecution stands you out as the best qualified person to lead our dear nation today”.

Arc. Anthony Obekpa also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as the most free and fair election in our democratic history.

He urged those who lost in the last election to know where to draw the line between politics and nationalism. He insists that those who contested the election must in the spirit of nationalism and patriotism join Asiwaju in building a country that works for every Nigerian.

“We must be conscious of that stage where politics must give way for nationalism. We are all winners, I urge the candidates who lost in the election to join Tinubu in building a country that works for every Nigerian”.

He also noted that Asiwaju is a radical reformer whose track records of performance gives clear indication that the former Lagos governor possesses the capacity to take Nigeria out of the woods of underdevelopment.
