They just like to make trouble by saying Lagos is no man's land. It's provocative. Yorubas and Ibos are very close but some people just spit out trash that bring anger. No doubt Ibos have done so so much in contributing to the economy of Lagos but that doesn't change the ownership of Lagos. This Lagos is no man's land is always funny to me. Funny because when I was growing up it was said primarily as a term of endearment.

People (read as everyone: Igbos, Yorubas, hausas, Edo etc) would say Lagos is no man's land to capture the beautiful and peculiar essence of Lagos.

Lagos to us--- more so than anywhere else in the country, was a place where anyone from anywhere could come hustle and make a fair living for themself. It belonged to all of us. Of course the Yorubas owned the place. This was never in doubt or contested. But it belonged to us, true lagosians. The Omo onile, the Omo nna, the aboki, the Omo Togo, the Omo Ghana, the Omo Edo etc etc.

It is sad that this beautifully simple phrase said in honour of this beautifully vibrant city has taken on a most malicious and sinister slant. True lagosians must stand up and resist them.
