First, a politician will always seek his or her interest first before the interest of the people. More than 90% of you chanting and shouting in support of politicians can never be richer or well-connected like the children of politicians. The children of politicians are more often than not not involved in protests or uprisings because they are not in the same situation as the most of you.

Second, a politician will promise to be a messiah if and only if he is governor, president, senator, representative or something. They can never do something meaningful for their country or community with their own wealth and connection. A politician will always say "give me power first and I will give you good leadership". Why? Why can't you lead your people first, work for your community and let the people deem you worthy of governance based on what you have done for your community? Politicians will campaign based on what they did as governor forgetting that they were paid to do what they did. Who praises an employee for getting his/her job done when that is what he or she is being paid for? Peter Obi has millions of dollars. Why must he be president before he does something meaningful for his community and country using his hard earned money but he has promised heaven and earth by sheer demagoguery. Tinubu and Atiku have millions upon millions of dollars and they are close to their graves. Why can't they solve problems in their community and country with the immense wealth that they have?

Third, politicians are overrated. Politics has outlived its usefulness. We have to revert to communal living. We have to go back to communal dialogue and working together to address our shared problems. For example, if there is a bad road in your area and it is causing hardship for a lot of residents in that area, won't you consider it stupid to wait for your governor or for your president, who may never use that road or care that you even exist, to fix that road? An area with 50,000 households contributing 1000 naira per month for 2 years would have contributed 1.2 billion naira enough to construct a 2km road (if we cut the thief thief that is always present in government contracts). However instead of going this route we prefer waiting on a government and that road will remain a pain in the ass for everyone in that community for decades.

The messiah we need is someone who will mobilize the people to work together to build the future they seek. No politician seeking government office will give you the Nigeria of your dreams and if they try the monsters within his or her government will undermine him or her from within and make him or her look like sham and total failure.

All politicians in Nigeria will either be like Olusegun Obasanjo the tyrant or be like Goodluck Jonathan the puppet ...anyone who goes into government to do right will eventually bow the wishes of the monsters hiding behind the scenes. The true messiah will not come seeking power rather he or she will come encouraging the people to work together for the betterment of their own communities.
