Destiny 2 Expansions: A Critical Review Of Every Release So Far by Sravz22: 9:09am On Mar 07, 2023
Destiny 2, the popular multiplayer shooter game has had several post-release expansions. These include Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, and the latest addition, Lightfall. Destiny 2 as well as Destiny have been popular with gamers worldwide since they were released. All versions have received rave reviews, and the game has been praised for its graphics, playing style, interactive gameplay, and new and exciting additions to the game. Destiny 2 players can benefit from Kboosting.com – the best game-boosting website there is out there.
Each Destiny 2 expansion adds value and thrilling features to the game. It keeps things new and retains more and more players. In this article, we review every Destiny 2 expansion released so far.
1. Curse of Osiris
This was Destiny 2’s first-ever expansion, which took players to a fresh new setting – Mercury, where we are reintroduced to Osiris. Osiris is the dangerous warlock, but this time it's he who needs saving. Though Curse of Osiris was pretty basic with its features, it still introduced new strikes, raid lairs, and three Crucible maps. Curse of Osiris, though not highly rated, set the base for many successful new expansions.
2. Warmind
Warmind, the game’s second expansion, has a decent rating of 3.1. Warmind introduced exciting new locations and terrains for players to experience. Set on Mars, the challenge was to rescue the Warlock Rasputin. It also introduced a new ranking system for crucibles. Warmind is most popular for its highly public event – Escalation Protocol, wherein public teams fought Hive.
3. Forsaken
The third expansion in the series introduced major changes to the game. While Curse of Osiris and Warmind had made some new additions, it is Forsaken that is considered to be the first real expansion to make substantive change. It changed the game plot from rescue to vengeance and introduced two new locations Dreaming City and Tangled Shore. It also brought out the first-ever dungeon, which quickly became popular with players. This was the expansion that brought in seasonal content. Many players still swear that Forsaken was the best Destiny 2 expansion.
4. Shadowkeep
Shadowkeep reintroduced the Moon as a playable location. It introduced several features, such as added RPG features, new strikes, raids, and a dungeon. Though the makers attempted to create a novel game, they failed in including elements that would give it a fresh look. The plot lacked character and was fuzzy and confusing to many. Though it was a respectable release, there are certainly better Destiny 2 games out there.
5. Beyond Light
This time, the destination was Jupiter’s moon – Europa. The icy scenery and cool graphics made for memorable gameplay. Beyond Light also introduced the new element Stasis. Since it was also introduced with a free-to-play version, it brought in many new players and introduced them to the game. A lot of old content was reintroduced as well. This juxtaposition of old and new elements created a solid expansion that is highly loved.
6. The Witch Queen
The Witch Queen was a massive success for Bungie. Set in Savathun’s Throne World, it introduced a new, exciting plot line – deception. Savathun’s power is deception, which forces players to engage smartly with the game. Released in 2022, this expansion quickly garnered phenomenal responses. It introduced new and customizable weapons along with new raids and locations.
7. Lightfall

Lightfall has just come out in February 2023 but is one of the best Destiny 2 expansions. It is set in the advanced city of Neptune, where the new enemy is the Witness, and his discipline is Calus. Lightfall is layered with Destiny 2 history – a fact that people both love and hate. This is not the best expansion for new players, but it is a treasure trove for old ones.
Destiny 2 comes out with a new installment, The Final Shape. This is supposed to be the chapter that closes the light and dark saga and is expected to be a whopping hit. Check out its latest expansions before the new ones roll out, and decide which ones you like best!

I like the constant updates, especially trials weapon rotation. From first-person shooting to puzzle-solving and strategy in raids, Destiny 2 offers a wide range of gameplay mechanics that cater to various player preferences.
