Please whatever you do in this life, stay the hell away from private hospitals,go to general hospitals and teaching hospitals instead.

WHY?

WHY?

Private hospitals are established to make money off you, HMOs are established to make money off you as well....In the process of both the HMO and the private hospital trying to avoid running at loss, the common man(patient) suffers!!!

I’ll give an example when I’m less busy

For not going to private hospital....let's say you always go to a private hospital, when you wife is pregnant, you will want her to go to that same private hospital, when you kid gets sick, you will still want him/her to go to this same private hospital which is all shades of wrong....ideally your wife should go to a doctor that deals with women while you kid should visit the one that deals with children.Even the so called specialist hospitals, when you go there,95% of the time, the consultant(who is also the owner of the hospital) is not always around except at night after he closes from the General hospital or teaching hospital where he or she works. The person that will attend to you most times is the medical officer(a Jack of all trade, master of none)
My mum spends more than 3k every month to go to the teaching hospital nearest to her just for her monthly check-up.I insisted on it and I like it that way!!!

For the HMOs....Hygeia,Axa-mansard,leadway,Reliance,name it,they are all about the profit.
Let me use malaria as an example, when you have severe malaria, the right thing any sensible doctor should do is start you on injections then finish your treatment with all those ACT drugs but because the HMOs don't want to run at loss, they tell the hospitals that once they give injection they shouldn't give oral drug, else they won't pay. What about the drugs the HMO approves for the treatment of infections. They are mostly all these cheap antibiotics.
I'll explain more on this HMO of a thing after I've eaten. At the moment,"ebi n pami!!!"

You hace spoken the truth. I have witnessed the one in the second paragraph too.
The HMOs don't want the hospital to give quality care.
