Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is said to have delayed plans for a multi-billion flotation until late next year to keep staff focused on improving the world’s biggest social networking site.


A flotation has been anticipated since Goldman Sachs found new investors for Facebook in January in a move widely seen as a prelude to a listing in New York.
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer, said in May that an initial public offering was “inevitable”.
Under US securities law, Facebook will be required to publish its financial results for the first time in April because it now has more than 500 investors.
Mr Zuckerberg, who founded Facebook while a student at Harvard University, is reported to be keen to ensure employees maintain a focus on adding new features to Facebook rather than the potential financial windfall floating would bring them.
