A male passenger who witnessed the events that happened on the train that had accident with a BRT bus conveying Lagos state govt workers, around Ikeja this morning.

According to him, the train left Agbado train station, & was heading to Oshodi train station.

The train accident was an avoidable one that shouldn't have happened if the driver had keenly waited for the train to pass but he was in a hurry to move before the train gets to the level crossing. A number of people were claimed have to died, and many fatal injuries were sustained.

According to witnesses, the driver of the train whistled & honked the train's horn right from Ikeja under bridge till he got to where the incident occurred at level crossing. That the BRT bus driver has got questions to answer but unfortunately, he escaped unhurt, and he is nowhere, to be found.

The train dragged the BRT bus from level crossing at PWD to Shogunle, where it eventually stopped.

The scene was tragic and scary, to those who witnessed it.

The Lagos State Emergency Response Unit, including The fire service and LASTMA were on ground to help with survivors and control the scene of the accident.

Too bad, public drivers should be defensive drivers, because a lot of lives are in their hands.

D braking systems of trains are not sth u can stop, they move in high speed, I think if here was organised country, they(NRC) could have opened d train rail and de-rail the train a few Kms

I wasn't a witness but I already knew the Driver was trying to beat the train to the cross section.
On several occasions, I have witnessed where trucks breakdown on the rail tracks.
So long as the Train Driver sight the vehicle from afar, it will slow to a stop.
