It may surprise you to know that there's more chance of survival for animals(bar the activities of humans) and better opportunity for the planting and growing of crops in the savannas than in the rainforest, it's the reason a zone in the north can grow twice or even three times the food that two zones can grow in the south; the reason why the north is the nation's food basket and the reason your postulate doesn't hold any water.
