Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has attributed Peter Obi’s departure from the party to Governor Nyesom Wike’s constant insults.


Obi, who had purchased the PDP presidential form in the lead-up to the party’s primaries in 2022, withdrew from the race and joined the Labour Party (LP), where he contested the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Atiku’s behalf, his media aide Phrank Shaibu stated in Abuja on Wednesday, March 14 that Wike’s attack on Obi over the control of the PDP structure in Anambra was the cause of Obi’s exit.

Shaibu was quoted saying, “Even Peter Obi left due to the constant insults from Wike who battled with him over the structure of the PDP in Anambra state.”
