starstaz: Indeed. Comprehensive liberalisation reforms are what Nigeria needs, because the problems have long been well-identified, and not messiah.

So nobody should shout No federal project again. You are the architect of your destiny; the Michael Angelo of your future. Nigeria will get there. |

Laudable if true and we'll harnessed. Lagos would have been almost on it own electricity by now! But they had to sent it to the grid. |

Wow! I didn't see this coming. This is clearly the best bill Buhari has signed since 2015, and one of the best signed by any president since 1999. Gradually, we shall achieve true federalism in this country. |

It is as if Nigeria doesnt deserve the likes of Peter Obi and Datti. These are people who will declare WAR on electricity. Their plan is to ensure that from day 1 in government, anyone from anywhere in the world that can generate 100 MW will be allowed without any license. Do you know how many towns and cities will be easily covered with 100% electricity? And that is not even all they have for Nigeria. Here we are jubilating that they allowed states to generate electricity. With these Sharing Formular brains we have as Governors. 1 Like |

opalu: Ordinary pipe borne water, did Obi restore in Anambra? Did Water Board function under Obi? Was there waste management under Obi, did he ensure refuse and drainages are properly treated and maintained? Did Obi set up a public transport mechanism in Anambra, did he build a single bus terminal and did he even set up a traffuc mgt agency like LASTMA? Who fed u guys this scam about Obi, a very underwhelming governor during his time? 1 Like |

DoTheNeedful: Amen. Developments like this gladden my mind immensely but also saddens me deeply because we see how quickly and without noise this was delivered. One now begins to wonder what could have been if Buhari prioritised the delivery of this in his first year as Preaident over 7 years ago. Our problems are well-known and the solutions identified yet it seems Nigerians are hellbent on frustrating and sabotaging themselves instead of doing the right and productive things asap. 2 Likes 1 Share |

opalu: Please stop this. What are Obi and Datti if not political prostitutes , moving from Party to Party, that are mediocre leaders who hardly made any progressive or productive difference anywhere? |

OneTemplate: The highlighted part is one of the reasons why I was surprised by this news. Since the end of the civil war, the major political actors in Nigeria, especially from the North, have been reluctant about giving more power to the federating units. There has been the push to centralize major institutions e.g power generation, police, and other things. Unfortunately, this has affected our efficiency in this country a lot. I am happy with the signing of the bill, and I hope more power will be granted to the states. Bills such as this would also make states to compete for investments. Most investors would easily want to establish in states with steady power generation, instead of moving to Ghana. |

DoTheNeedful: The part in bold is the bane of Nigeria's development and progress. Unbundlibg, decentralising and genuinely empowering states, institutions and processes will see Nigeria develop overnight into a true African giant and powerhouse of the African continent. It will kill tribalism overnight and give us all renewed focus and patriotism, which we long lost as Nigerians, to commit to the development of our States and regions that , under aggressive restructuring, have been made more autonomous and thus able to achieve progress at their own pace and commensurate to their commitment to secure success. If Igbo, Yoruba and Fulani know that Anambra, Ogun and Katsina States are theirs to lead autonomously then the excuses of everyone pointing to the FG or others of different ethnicity to us, and blaming them for everything, will die overnight. The FG, on it's own part, must show the commitment to facilitate the autonomy and freedom that will allow all Nigerian States to thrive. No State will be allowed to fail or derail completely, as the FG must still maintain supervisory role over States of Nigeria, but we must gain the freedom to allow the most gifted and most prepared States to thrive as encouragement to other and to stimulate the healthy competition and patriotism that means no State or region wants the stigma of being proclaimed a laggard or failure. Today, under 'one Nigeria', it is too easy for leaders to fail only for their citizens to run elsewhere in Nigeria where leadership is performing better. 1 Like |

OneTemplate: The problem with our leaders is the energy with which they pursue developmental projects. The must important resource of a great leader is time. Buhari's presidency could have been different if he had delivered this 7 years ago. I completely agree with you. |
