Welcome dear friend

Calculating needed materials for your pop/polystyrene ceiling projects with military precision is easier than you think

All you need do is measure your property in square meter(sqm) and use the procedure you will learn later to get exact needed materials for your pop/polystyrene ceiling projects

How do I go about it? You asked

Here is how

Your calculations starts from centimetres (cm) and you convert it to meters

Every 100 centimetres (cm) on a cm scale equals 1meter (m)

Mathematically 100 cm ÷ 100 cm = 1 m

How you will do it, is measure the length and breadth on a cm scale of the individual rooms and other area you want to furnished with pop Ceiling of your building using measuring tape

Examples:

Say a room's length is 357 cm and breadth is 259 cm respectively

Mathematically:Conversion from centimeters to meters

L 357 cm ÷ 100 cm = 3.57 m
B 259 cm ÷ 100 cm = 2.59 m

Now to square meter:

3.57 m × 2.59 m = 9.2463 square meters , the area of this typical room is 9 square meters

There you have it.

The above is just an example, henceforth if you want to measure, just get the size in length and breadth of the room or whatever area you want in centimeters

And convert it to meters by dividing whatever centimeter figures you have got with 100. What the calculator gave you is the meter.

Do that for length and breadth and multiply them like this - length × breadth - what you'll now have is the square meter of that area you measured

Just as shown in the calculations above

The calculation is simple as calculating area of rectangle when you are in junior school - length × breadth (L × B) remember!

Now relating this calculations to materials needed for your project:

Every bag of pop cement can cover area of 6sqm
Or if you want to use polystyrene. It's usually in sheets and it covers area of 3 sqm

Supposing your building is 100 sqm

All you do is divide 100 sqm by 6 sqm

Or for polystyrene divide 100sqm by 3 sqm

Like this - 100 ÷ 6 = 16 - what this means is, you will need 16 bags of pop cement for your 100sqm building ceiling project

In addition to that 16 bags of pop cement you'll need 10 more bags, 30kg of Filas, 3inches nails, concrete nails and biding wire to hang and decorate the ceiling

For polystyrene 100sqm ÷ 3 = 33, meaning you will need 33 sheets of polystyrene for 100sqm building ceiling project

In addition to that 33 sheets of polystyrene, you'll need 10 bags of pop cement, 8 buckets of screeding paint, 5 pounds of 3 inches nails, 1 carton of concrete nail (3 inches) , binding wire and 18kg of filas to hang and decorate the ceiling

Conclusion

• Measuring your building for pop ceiling is done using square meter measurements for accuracy
• 100 centimeters is equivalent to 1 meter
• Other materials needed for your pop ceiling project after getting the size in square meter is pure estimation
• All the above is to give you clear insight on how measurement is calculated to avoid been fooled or misled thereby wasting your hard earned money and time
• With little practice you'll become proficient at measuring your building
