chamber2:The damage done by Jonathan to us when he spoke with the American Ambassador was worse Although Jonathan said Iwu was not a problem, the Americans (Carson) told Jonathan to dismiss Iwu. He did JONATHAN: You see, the issue of the -- the electoral body -- the issue is that whether the president electoral body -- we called an Independent Electoral Commission, INEC -- can conduct free and fair election or not. And I told them that, yes, they can, because I have done it with the same people Iwu, I'm not trying to hold brief for him. The Iwu we are talking about has conducted free elections. These past three elections were credible. http://www..com/ng/pics-videos-experiences-and-interviews/1812-full-transcript-of-jonathan-s-interview-with-cnn-s-christiane-amanpour.html#ixzz1YLNMVFWn Iwu must Go, says US official (6 April 2010) http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/42159/1/Iwu-must-go-says-US-official/Page1.html Jonathan Sacks Iwu (28 Apr 2010) http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5561439-146/breaking_news_iwu_goes__.csp He told the American Ambassador he was not the most qualified to be VP http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5652152-146/wikileaks_reveals_secret_talks_between_jonathan.csp “I was not chosen to be vice president because I had good political experience. I did not. There were a lot more qualified people around to be vice president, but that does not mean I am not my own man,” The American Ambassador instructed Jonathan to distance himself from Obj While you guys were lambasting Dambazzau (former CAS), he was amongst the people preventing some young soldiers from getting ideas “the military chiefs are making sure no politicians are reaching out to the rank-and-file, and encouraging the military to stay in the barracks so that the uncertain political situation does not generate coup-like behaviour emanating from the mid-ranks because of the confusion.” http://www.africanexecutive.com/modules/magazine/articles.php?article=5190 America's 'demand' that Iwu be removed cannot be downplayed as a potentially crucial factor in his sacking. Ever since Jonathan became Acting President, the Obama administration has gone above and beyond in making statements about Nigerian politics and publicly imposing its opinions in domestic issues. The removal of Iwu, while a positive for Nigerian democracy, given Iwu's track record, does not forebode well for the credibility of the Jonathan administration and possibly whoever becomes President in 2011. Iwu's removal will be classified as America's wish and already, some like the media outlet NEXT, have headlines stating "Jonathan grants America's request". Being seen as a puppet implies weakness and that was a problem for Jonathan's predecessor Yar'Adua. That perception of a weak President not only colored domestic politics but created international problems for the country as well. |

Non Interest Banking is not only an Islamic phenomenon. Charging of interest on loans is also condemned in the bible. It is called Usury and below are some references. Scripture References to Usury, Interest (All references are from the New King James Bible) " If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest. (Exodus 22:25-27) "You shall not charge interest to your brother -- interest on money or food or anything that is lent out at interest. (Deuteronomy 23:19,20) "I also, with my brethren and my servants, am lending them money and grain. Please, let us stop this usury! "Restore now to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also a hundredth of the money and the grain, the new wine and the oil, that you have charged them." (Nehemiah 5:10,11) He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved. (Psalm 15:5) If he has exacted usury Or taken increase -- Shall he then live? He shall not live! If he has done any of these abominations, He shall surely die; His blood shall be upon him. (Ezekiel 18:13) So guys give the guy a break. I will rather get an interest free loan than the crazy 18 - 20% banks are currently charging coupled with their draconian requirements. |

The guy is clueless when it comes to terms of leadership; he still thinks we're in the military regime where he imposes his policies on people without due process of the law. He DOES NOT have the patience to be a president because he wants to do things his way; as CBN Gov., he had immunity that no one questioned him and he did as he pleased, as president, that's a different case. He has NASS to contend with with his so-called policies which they will veto 90% of all the time. While I admire his courage to tackle corruption; however, humbleness and humilty MUST take reign to produce an effective leader. As for the question, answer is a HELL TO THE F/U/C/K NO. |

all4naija: You have no idea, SMH, the issue is not whether I am a Christian or Not (which of course I am), the issue is do you prefer to take a loan from a bank at exorbitant interest rates (which the banks hope that you default on), do u want your hard earn deposits to be used in the financing of vices (alcohol, drugs, porn)? The practice of charging cut throat interest rates in other to finance private fantasies like private jets for Akingbola or financing vices which destroys the very fabric of good christian living is utterly ridiculous. |

Islamic banking is not the problem with Sanusi, his mind set and indoctrination is the problem. I have read many articles by this man and it makes me wonder how on earth he was made CBN Governor of a multi ethnic and multi religious country like Nigeria. If only we took some time and read some of his articles glorifying the imperialist tendencies of the Fulanies, no fair or objective person would wish him on Nigeria. Sanusi to put it mildly is an ethnic bigot and a religious fanatic. Please guys before passing any judgement, take the time to read his articles on Nigeria. We all know the greatest problem facing the North today is the lack of basic secular education, hence the reason for the almajiri problem where millions of kids are force fed religious dogma but denied basic education. What as Mallam Sanusi done to change this situation? When Northern leaders were busy implementing sharia law instead of providing education to these poor Almajiris. where was Sanusi? This man just like most Northern leaders have failed us all, but they have done more damage to their own people. If he meant well he would be a champion of education for his people instead of being a sharia defender. The North needs a leader like the great Ataturk of Turkey and that leader is yet to emerge. A leader who can separate religion from politics and value education of his people over Islamic dogma. What they have are feudal lords that still want to keep their people in servitude and use them in keeping a firm grip on the power given to them by the Imperialist war lord, by the name of Usman Danfodio. . http://www.nigerdeltacongress.com/warticles/yorubas.htm The Yorubas: Between Madunagu and Abati by Sanusi L. Sanusi just a taster of his bigoted views {Will the Yoruba finally learn humility, and accept the need to treat others with respect? Or will they continue to be dribbled, as usual, by "cattle and goats" (which makes them even worse than cattle and goats)? The choice is theirs to make) (The struggle in Ilorin is between descendants of two men, Afonja and Alimi, who lived in Ilorin at the turn of the 19th century. It is a case of rival claims as to which of the two factions has the legitimate right to rule Ilorin. This one question is best answered by reference to history, and by applying the laws applicable to society at that point in time. The parties to this dispute are aware of this, which is why the Yoruba have actually descended to the level of distorting historical facts and fabricating fables about what transpired between Afonja and Alimi) The writer is a manager at the United Bank for Africa, Lagos, Nigeria BETWEEN THE SHARIAH AND "BARBARISM" BY SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI http://www.nigerdeltacongress.com/barticles/between_the_shariah_and.htm (This is the Shariah, the Divine law of Allah which some persons have taken to calling "barbaric". The wisdom of this Law, as exemplified in the law of inheritance, can be seen in each and everyone of its aspects: In the law of personal status, in contract, in criminal law etc. It is within the context of what is civilised and what is barbaric that I write this essay) (I will go beyond that and take the example of theft. Islamic Law cuts of the hand of a thief once his crime meets all the stiff conditions defining it in law. The law cuts of what Bola Ige calls " the offending instrument," and frees the man to go and live with his family. What does our "civilized" law do? It gives him accommodation and feeds him for months or years in a place called a "prison" it keeps him in the company of "experts" with "varied experience" who teach him more sophisticated and more violent techniques for his craft. In addition to petty theft, he probably now learns how to procure a weapon, and is likely introduced to the "joys of Same-sex relations" in the cell. After this period of accommodation and first-class training at the expense of the state, he is brought out to a society in which he is stigmatized. This frustrated character is unleashed on innocent citizens. This is our civilized law) ISSUES IN RESTRUCTURING CORPORATE NIGERIA BY SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI http://www.nigerdeltacongress.com/iarticles/issues_in_restructuring_corporat.htm i. The Sharia and religious intolerance in the North (To ask Muslims to abandon Sharia in the name of a Secular Nigeria is to give them an unjust choice. The matter is not one of being either Muslim or Nigerian when they can be both Muslim and Nigerian. The attempt to turn Nigeria into a Secular State seeks the erosion of Muslim identity and history. This will continue to be a source of conflict as Muslims will always resist it, with justification) The Yoruba Factor and “Area-boy” Politics. (In sum, the Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has shown itself over the years to be incapable of rising above narrow tribal interests and reciprocating goodwill from other sections of the country by treating other groups with respect. Practically every crisis in Nigeria since independence has its roots in this attitude) The Yoruba elite were the first, in 1962, to attempt a violent overthrow of an elected government in this country. iii.The Igbo Factor and the Reasonable Limits of Retribution. (The Igbo people of Nigeria have made a mark in the history of this nation. They led the first successful military coup which eliminated the Military and Political leaders of other regions while letting off Igbo leaders. Nwafor Orizu, then Senate President, in consultation with President Azikiwe, subverted the constitution and handed over power to Aguiyi-Ironsi. Subsequent developments, including attempts at humiliating other peoples, led to the counter-coup and later the civil war. The Igbos themselves must acknowledge that they have a large part of the blame for shattering the unity of this country) In conclusion, Mallam Sanusi in pointing out all the ills of the Yorubas and Igbos, conveniently forgot to mention that the single most important issue responsible for shattering the unity of this country was the killing of thousands of innocent Igbos by the Fulani/Hausa Northerners (first genocide of independent Africa) which led to a bloody civil which we are yet to recover from. The man loves pointing fingers but refuses to look in the mirror. Nigeria needs not an ethnic but a National champion. |

kcswat:So the Snr Muttallab who reported his OWN son to the security agencies and the American Embassy is still a terrorist? manny4life:Why don't you you also learn the patience to read the CBN Act and find out if he has immunity or not? BTW the CBN act under which Sanusi is operating is the same act that Soludo crafted and got Obj to follow up at NASS and signed before leaving If there is any immunity, Soludo designed it and benefitted from it! At least Soludo told FEC that he could redenominate the Naira witjout their approval. You can show me where you criticised Soludo for doing things his own way Fact - nobody has come to disown Sanusi's decision making style and we know were it that crude a lot of the SE people brought in by Soludo during his time would have spoken out Fact - People have gone to court over the sack of bank CEOs. No court has asked for anyone to be reinstated yet. That is due process Fact - a reading of the BOFIA and CBN Acts show clearly that Soludo did not have the powers to redenominate the Naira. That power belongs to the president. Yet Soludo claimed otherwise, tried to browbeat others. I did not see any post where you talked about impatience, immunity and all |

Why Sanusi? its like he has paid u guys to start raising awareness for his bid, if we need a CBN governor to be our President then Soludo is the man, there are a lot of intelligent, reasonable, non-arrogant, unmyopic and unsetimental political stalwarts from the North, why Sanusi? What has he done to make him even think of gunning for presidency? we are talking of the whole of Nigeria, not banks that he can intimidate their CEOs and fire them at will, initiating a ripple effect on our economy in the name of reforms that has lost us jobs and caused untold hardship on nigerians, we complain that Abacha was a dictator, just watch Sanusi's antics and comments, a man who believes that he is not even answerable to the National Assembly, the demi-god of the banking sector, what will happen when such a person with hate for other ethnic groups holds that position of POTFRN? Sanusi for which President? Nigerians sef, we easily get carried away by mere drama and theatrics rather than real results. What exactly has been his achievements since becoming CBN governor besides staggering from one controversy to another one, talking tough, taking rash decisions that have worsened our financial problems and making himself look like a good guy as he talks down on others. The man does not have the tact and finesse to be a politician let alone the President. This same impatient dictator that will make decisions and turn them on their heads after some time. He may seem the next best thing to Northerners but we in the South think and know people who are way better, experienced, upright, intelligent more than SLS can ever be, with the right proportion of tact, diplomacy and understanding of the Nigerian polity. Sanusi is an unrepentant Bigot that cares little about people who are not muslims or share his beliefs. |
