jesusjnr2020:No sir. In fact, 90% of HIV cases I have come across are heterosexual. Most are women(since they are more likely to contact it via Langerhans cells in their service) who got it from their philandering hubbies via sex, others blood transfusion etc |

jaephoenix:So why is the percentage of HIV-positive gays much higher than that of the heterosexuals? In other words why are gays more prone to the disease than the heterosexuals? That's the point. 2 Likes |

jaephoenix:I'm ashamed that you're even arguing this despite using Google search, except you don't know the difference between numbers and percentage of a group. The % of gays in the US is 2, in other words, out of every 100 Americans just 2 are gays, the rest are heterosexuals, so it's expected that the number of HIV-positive heterosexuals should be far more than that of gays, yet for the first time according to the screenshot you posted, the numbers of HIV-positive heterosexuals just exceeded that of gays, so if out of 50 positive tests, 24 are gays, which is the most vulnerable group among the two? That's exactly my point which is a well-known fact. You might need to learn to use Google search properly as shown below. 1 Like

jesusjnr2020:No. We're talking percentage of HIV in gays and straights. Heterosexuals were also far more likely to be diagnosed late, meaning damage to the immune system has already begun. More than half (51%) of women, 55% of heterosexual men and 66% of those aged 65 and over diagnosed with HIV in 2020 were diagnosed at a late stage. This compares to just 29% of gay and bisexual men. This is likely driven by a belief that they are not at risk of HIV, which is often reinforced by healthcare professionals. https://www.tht.org.uk/news/heterosexual-hiv-diagnoses-overtake-those-gay-men-first-time-decade |

jaephoenix:It seems you're confused because even the page you quoted is proving me right that gays were more prone to contracting the virus than heterosexuals. Except you know you're wrong but just want to keep arguing. Or if you're speaking of percentage of new HIV diagnosis, but if really percentage of HIV in gays compared to that in heterosexuals, then it's beyond glaring you have no case.
