Do we blame the foreign employers? When you see Nigerian companies offering N70k per month for a fullstack developer and they will list requirements as if they want to write typescript documentation.

And our developers no sabi say no. Some employers would even insist you commute to their noisy office.

This is why i am happy that developers are leaving en masse. If you own a company and cannot afford to pay developers, buy typewriters.

Create multiple dummy accounts with different email addresses and apply for the role you are interested in. Keep doing the tests under those dummy accounts until you are comfortable doing and passing them. Then do it with your "real" account

I hope you have left the place. I have heard of other remote companies doing this & the reason they do it is because they know people from 3rd world countries are desperate. Left them since. I wouldn't say it's that bad sha. Depends on the Business unit. I worked with one of their schools over the summer period and it was all vibes and cruise. Very mundane stuff that required attention to detail. I even automated some of the tasks gan. The real issue was with the monitoring. I had a big gripe with it. I mean I had automated some parts of my work but I still needed to seat at my laptop and pretend to be pushing keys and moving mouse while the monitoring software was busy taking pictures of me for someone in HR to review. Fvck that

They do not only do it because of desperation to get a job, people from third world countries generally have poor work ethics therefore if you do not monitor them closely you will not get value for your money

To be honest sometimes this isn't a thing of how good you are o. I have a friend crazy good guy like really good. My friend was lucky to get some amazing paying contracts last year but when those contracts ended getting new jobs became exceedingly difficult. This same person relocated just to the UAE and it became a completely different ball game. Jobs he would apply for in Nigeria for months, he was instead getting calls from recruiters.

As a young and aspiring SwE.. all I need is a chance to get an internship in Canada when I finally get there... But I want to polish my skills here to at least an average point.
