All campuses make money outside their primary assignment of higher education.

LASUs counterparts outside the country have exclusive campus cafes that sell snacks and coffee and cooked food daily.

They also have their shops that sell University merchandise to students such as monogrammed mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, pens and books.

With all that business, they still charge their students at least $10,000 for the cheapest course.
leave ignorant Nigerians to wallow in their ignorance.

They sha must criticize for the hecks of it.
The lasu response is perfect.

They have been doing important school that these internet zombies don't engage because it's boring to their lazy brain.
Then there is bread herd brains kick into overdrive.

Something that is not even illegal o.

A very weak response(clap back) in defense of bread baking by an institution of higher learning

I understand they want to make money but it’s not an (big) achievement worthy of commendation by an institution of higher learning
It's actually an excellent clapback. You are probably one of those it describes so you don't see it.

In my University in the UK, the main lunch room was owned by the school and they employed cooks that made and served food. Students could buy vouchers weekly or for the semester for breakfast/lunch, which was cheaper than tapping your card. All proceeds went to the school, it wasnt private.
There was also a starbucks coffee shop at the top floor of the school shop. That was private.

Oga the food was it subsidized or not, some of you just make comments anyhow. They have been serving canteens in most higher institutions in Nigeria in the 60s with meal ticket given to students to eat, how is it the same with opening a bakery. Use your brain next time before quoting me

I really see nothing wrong in LASU setting up a bakery outlet in order to increase the much needed IGR. Obviously, this is the way forward for Nigeria tertiary institutions in the prevailing economic condition of our dear country.

This would've made a better response by the institution.

You are just being clever by half. Other campuses in Nigeria do it. I know for a fact the only bread and pure water sold in BIU is by their university. And it's not the first.

Nigeria is a poor country with poor people. If you don't want school fees above N150k then allow universities to make money in other ways. Education is not cheap.
Don't mind them, some people can't sit and read a research article for one hour but will be the first to comment on Inadequacy, there don't know that every public university will diversify into a lucrative business especially students' utilities and consumables for an inflow of funds.

I'll suggest Sanwo Olu close down the school and turn it to State Bakery since Bread is their top priority. Rubbish!

Well, you chose to join others in poor reasoning. The tweet from LASU suggest that when researches are tweeted, no one takes it seriously but when it is about bakery, it becomes trending news.

Anyway, objectively looking at the matter, I came to a conclusion that LASU uses her platform on twitter to tweet things happening in the school and it's only silly holding onto the bakery thing just to criticize.

The Lagos State University has replied critics of it's new bread business on it's twitter page. The University had announced a new Bread Bakery as shown in this thread https://www.nairaland.com/7634053/lasu-bread-lagos-state-university

In response to a critic that tweeted:

Isn't it worrisome that a UNIVERSITY is being applauded for opening a bakery when their counterparts outside the country are focused on researches and grants to increase IGR?

The University responded that:

Isn't it worrisome that when news of research grants and awards (and there are tons of them) from the university are posted on this same platform, they don't attract this level of engagements? 🤔
