Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won majority of the seats in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, according to election results declared by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), at press time..

According to the declaration by the commission, the All Progressives Congress (APC) got four seats, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won two seats in the 24-member Assembly.

From the 23 seats so far declared, PDP won 17; APC, four; and APGA, two. Only Ogbia Constituency Two election is pending, following attack on the Registration Area Centre at Okodi by arsonists, who burnt electoral materials at the wards.


The Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Abraham Ingobere, of the PDP is among those returning to the House, having scored 5,973 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Oberiakumo Yousuo, of the All Progressives Congress, who had 981 votes in the Brass Constituency Three election as declared by the Returning Officer, Dr. Jeremiah Samuel.

Shortly after the results were declared, Ingobere, who is returning for a fourth term, commended INEC and security agencies for peaceful polls across the state, promising to give his constituents better representation.

In Brass Constituency Two, Timi Omubo Agala of the APC is returning with 3175 votes, just as Charles Daniel of the PDP was also returned, having won Brass Constituency One with 4116 votes.

Constituencies that also produced winners were Nembe, Ogbia, Yenagoa, Kolokuma-Opokuma, Sagbama and Ekeremor, among others.
