Soyinka has done so much for Nigeria's democracy.

As a young man, about the age of most disobidient children, he was incarcerated by a military regime for almost two years. Just before the restoration of our presidential democracy, another military regime wanted him "dead or alive" during his necessary exile from Nigeria.

The venerable statesman has contributed more to Nigerian progress than most of you would ever do- in words and in deeds ; in theory and in practice.

As the heyday of Obidiotism is gradually coming to an end, I am proud that my convictions about the totalitarian movement were genuine and have been proven even to the least objective Nigerian.

One of my fears was the institutionalization of cancel culture. Another one was the giving of villain tags to Nigerian heroes who do not reply Obi with "Yes Daddy"!


I am vindicated for taking a stance against masked fascism.

The irony here is that the same people are now calling him a tribal bigot just because he condemn the manner with which the Obidient kids abuse everyone and everything.

Ndibe had, during the conversation with Soyinka, recalled how Achebe, at one time, said, “The Nobel Prize did not make one the Asiwaju of African Literature.”

He then asked Soyinka how he took that statement at the time.

Responding, Soyinka said, “The subject was not even literature when he (Achebe) made that statement and so I was disappointed that he created a nexus between my normal sociopolitical life and my normal way of articulating an opinion.

“It was almost like because I won the Nobel Prize, I have no right to offer, to do what I used to do before all my life. I responded to it, even though I wanted to make light of it. I was a little bit disappointed and I didn’t see the necessity; that particular subject, which was under contention, didn’t relate to literature. So, it was like, oh, am I now to carry this burden for the rest of my life? That people will think I am doing what I used to do before simply because I now have a Nobel Prize.”

That he advocated for Biafra in the past rightly belongs to the past. Biafra did not work out, so that's past. Today the bone of contention is the recent flawed election. If there is no cause, there cannot be resulting effect. He can't pretend that the most important thing now is what Obidients and APC say than what INEC did.

I respect him so much and has read his book but I don't think he always makes the right and honest calls on national issues all the time. Nice grammars yes, but no substance as what he accused Obidients is not worst than what APC did in previous election nor the current one. He himself did insult Jonathan and wife, demeaning himself. The blame should go their parents. The parents of those Igbo youths insulting Prof failed their children not Prof. They do not even appreciate any good done to them.

They never told them about Wole Soyinka, Fajuyi, Victor Banjo and Yoruba landlords who returned their rents and properties to them after the Nigerian civil war.Their parents fed them with hate and victim mentality even in a land they are critical stakeholders. Today, the Igbo has gone from being one of the big 3 to become number 5 behind Hausa, Yoruba,Fulani and Ijaw.

Hopefully, Reno will help educate them so they can tell their own children that they were wrongly indoctrinated to hate others. The Igbo youths brought up well to be self confident and love other Nigerians, I salute you and your parents.
