SHAPING OUR WORLDS THROUGH READING: SYNW CELEBRATES WORLD BOOK DAY 2023 The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) joins the world in celebrating World Book Day 2023, with the theme "Your World Book Day." As an organization of young Nigerian writers, SYNW recognizes the transformative power of books and literature in shaping our individual worlds and communities. In a statement by the President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW), Wole Adedoyin said reading is essential to personal growth, creativity, and critical thinking. It also plays a vital role in promoting literacy and education, which are crucial to the development of any society. On this year's World Book Day, SYNW calls on all stakeholders to recognize and support the importance of reading in Nigeria and beyond. Despite the challenges of accessing quality books and resources, SYNW remains committed to promoting reading and writing in Nigerian communities. The organization has launched initiatives like book clubs, writing workshops, and literary festivals to encourage young Nigerians to read and write. SYNW also recognizes the critical role that technology plays in promoting reading and literacy. While digital resources have made books and reading materials more accessible, many communities in Nigeria still lack access to these resources. Therefore, SYNW calls on the Nigerian government and other stakeholders to bridge this digital divide and invest in promoting reading and literacy in the country. The organization also celebrates the diversity of voices and stories that make up Nigeria's literary landscape. African writers have made significant contributions to world literature, and it is essential to preserve our cultural heritage through literature. Finally, SYNW believes that reading is the key to personal growth, creativity, and critical thinking. The organization calls on all stakeholders to invest in promoting reading and literacy in Nigerian communities. SYNW expresses its gratitude to its members, partners, and sponsors who have supported its initiatives to promote reading and writing in Nigeria. Happy World Book Day!
