Who are the people selling this lands in the first place too ?
We all know how the Nigeria system is today and shouldn't start claiming who approved it. We all know those government taxforce in charge of the environmental stuff are the ones making things worst. They that are supposed to tell them to stop from the onset, "they will just collect their own share and move on", because they know they are not the ones that will be affected when a reasonable person take charge tomorrow .

We all know that the Nigeria system is filled up with corruption. So, u that is spending the money on ur building should be the one to be careful and know the right thing to do. Because the corrupt persons who approved ur illegality today might not be there tomorrow

They don’t deserve such heart break 💔 let’s start thinking right in this country where is Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development as at the time those properties were being developed?🤷‍♂️have you noticed lots of buildings aren’t even up to a standard? You see buildings collapsing killing people no quality control these offices aren’t functioning properly to deliver their services, they allowed the buildings in the first place
Most of them deserved it because they flow with the corrupt system of Nigeria. We all know how the Nigeria system is today and shouldn't start claiming who approved it. Most of them knows what they are doing is totally wrong, but will still go ahead with it and use money and connection to bend things to their wrong doings.

If land was sold legally.... wouldn't the owner have legit papers that correspond with the State records? If the State comes back to grab the land then the owner can move against the State in court.
I am stating authoritatively that the construction of those properties would never have taking place without approval by the Lagos state relevant agencies.Tinubu want to build his private properties in those demolished land.Just watch.

Despite many warnings from the regulatory authorities, these creeps still proceeded with the illegal construction of those houses on fuel pipelines and FAAN land originally acquired in 1944 and 1972, thereby potentially endangering the lives of millions of folks who fly in and out of MMIA that generates 60% of the revenue of all Nigerian airports. The funds generated from MMIA operations is used to maintain other unviable
Nigerian airports in other states.

Is it compulsory to build a house in Lagos State that has limited land space?

These insane people must all be arrested and prosecuted in the court of law tbh.

We bought a piece of land in that area, very close to the canal and pipeline and airport perimeter fence in 2008. We and our neighbor back then. We paid Omo-Onile and some other "officials". However, when we decided to check out the land before starting to build, we were warned by a property lawyer that the whole area was government gazetted land, and that even though we could bribe our way through securing fake government approvals, even start our building project there unmolested, however, that it is a matter of time when the true owners of the area, (FG), will come and recover their property.

On our part, we decided to sell the land eventually without building anything on it; however, our neighbour went ahead to build a really nice house on the site, and moved in since 2012.

I just pray that they are not affected by this demolition exercise.

God bless you for saying the truth here. Most times we buy properties without involving professionals to make enquiries for us which turns out bad investment ,even if the owner has all necessary documents in an area marked as residential in government plan,if the government decides to use the area it will be demolished with compensation for owners with complete papers.

The Yorubas are non exhibiting the worst forms of inferiority complex, they are now showing there deep rooted jealousy and envy where they igbos are but one thing i have since learnt in life,is that you cant stop a man who knows where he is going to,you can only delay his achievements but you can never deny him those achievements.
success is sweater when achieved through manifold struggle and effort, its a cultural thing with igbos.

They were not given prior demolition notice?

in my experience, you always get all the notices. however there can still be [for reason best know to lasbca officals] days to months between the receiving the notice and the actual demolition.

we had a situation where a facility received a notice, we evacuated. watched as the place was untouched for close to six months before they eventually demolished

It's painful to see people's blood and sweat go down in an instant. May God grant the owners strength to lift themselves and learn lessons from this unfortunate chapter.

On the other hand I am unhappy that government people waited till the houses were completed before moving in. What were they doing from the point of laying foundation to roofing?

What should also happen is that government people should be prosecuted for negligence. There must be an official or officials tasked with the responsible of making sure unapproved developments do not spring up...that person should be prosecuted and sent to jail in my view as a deterrent.
Government that cannot provide homes should be wary of destroying same especially zif the infringements are not major.

For those who are bringing an ethnic coloration and gloating over this, karma is real and these days working overtime. The pain of recklessness and impunity lies in its going round. Some kogi senator who was rigged out of his primaries will confirm my last paragraph. That was how some gloated over kidnapping of expatriates in Niger delta, today its a national problem. Let's come together to support what is good and condemn what is bad.

Thats exactly what I am trying to point out, the same thing is going on in Benin communities where government demolished lots of houses, these houses are not up to 4yrs those communities sold out governments owned land to people to build houses las las Governor Obaseki is map out lands belonging to government around Benin communities it’s sad these people aren’t even aware the lands belongs to government but the communities selling it knows fully well but choose to do it anyway

As an indegene and prince of Ewu land and the Ewu Awori people that were seperated from our awori brothers and sisters in Idimu and were removed from the land in question in 1944, the land that houses the Ikeja Nigerian Airforce base and barrack and both Muritala Mohammed Airports and all other Federal Government buildings in that area, I say the Federal Government and the Colonial Government never paid a dime of compensation meaning no compensation was ever paid, although they allowed us to attend the Nigerian Airport Authority Nursery and Primary for a reduced fee.

Which plan are u talking about? Na power most of them wey I know for here take dey do their own. Some of them na omonile, why some of them get their approvals from the omoniles them. Once those omoniles done give them go ahead, they don't care if government exists again.

And those government taxforce in charge of the environmental stuff are the ones making things worst. They that are supposed to tell them to stop from the onset, "they will just collect their own share and move on", because they know they are not the ones that will be affected when everything burst out tomorrow.
Wow then they have themselves to blame then cos i cant spend almost N70m to build a house and rely on Omonile permit that's is plain silliness

Yorubaman, take care of your land and you will not need us here. Unfortunately, you cannot.

You can't even be a man to look up to.

You're not even the man you wish you can.

You can only imagine but cannot happen.

Come tomthe brighter side. Mingle with an Igbo man let them show you the way. Be humble.
