ABUNDANT LIFE VISION
JESUS AT THE BEGINNING. John 1:1

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. NLT.

The name of Jesus is a popular name on earth, an amazing thing about the name is the fact that it is the earthly name of the saviour of mankind and the creator of the universe. Jesus is at the centre of everything on earth, in heaven and underneath the earth because all power belong to him. Philippians 2:9-11: Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, [10]that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11]and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. NLT.

However, Jesus did not just pop out of nowhere to save mankind, he has been active since the beginning of the world. Here are the things that are peculiar to Jesus since the beginning:

1. He is the ancient of days
Our text says that Jesus (the Word) was in existence in the beginning. That tells us that Jesus is the ancient of days. Daniel 7:13: As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into his presence. NLT.

2. He exists as a member of the trinity
This is a dicey topic in the Christendom, firstly the word trinity is not in the bible. However, the description of God in the scriptures shows that God is tripartite in nature. Mark 1:11: And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.” NLT. The scripture here shows that Jesus was on earth, the Spirit of God descended on him, and the voice of the Father spoke about him from heaven. These are the three beings that make up the trinity.

Therefore, the bible reveals Jesus as God who has been in existence since the beginning. However, as God Jesus has responsibilities that he performed at the beginning and responsibilities that he continues to perform till now.

1. He is the giver of life: John 1:4a
The Word gave life to everything that was created. NLT.

Jesus gave life to all things that was created including plants and animals. It is not a wonder that the bible says that all creation groan in the pain of childbirth. This is so because the consequence of the sin of man affects all creation. Rom 8:20-23. All creation exists because of Jesus.

2. He is the giver of light: John 1:4b
And his life brought light to everyone. NLT.

Without the life of God given out by Jesus, we are dead and by implication, we cannot appreciate light because dead people cannot see. It is only those who believe in Jesus have light through his life.

These are the things that Jesus did in the beginning and the things that he is still doing. All of them are designed to bring you close to God and reign with him in eternity. Therefore, if you have not given your life to Jesus to receive his life and light, I urge you to do so by saying this prayer wholeheartedly; Dear Jesus, I believe that you died for my sins and you resurrected on the third day by the power of God, please forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life and I will serve you forever.
